Familiar green eyes flashed with some unnamed emotion, but it disappeared quickly before I could wonder what it was. I did know the affectionate smile he flashed at me wasn't sincere. James had always seemed so guileless to me before. But he seemed different now somehow. He had the same classically handsome features. Refined. Regal. I used to like that about him. How I had always felt comfortable around him. But now, all I could think of when I looked at him was how fragile he would look next to Ethan.
