Laurel took a sip of her tea, the hot liquid burning a warm path down her throat. All around her, young ladies chattered in excitement as they examined various bolts of fabric strewn across the floor of the Green Room. She listlessly examined herself in the full length looking glass, taking in the striking fabric in the richest purple, and the way it flattered her figure and nodded affirmation when Miss Hester, Amelia's younger sister pronounced the color suitable for a bridesmaid.
