Sam’s POV
My wolf was restless.
I had been running for a while now through the thick forest in my wolf form—dark brown fur brushing past trees, paws pounding against the earth. Usually, a long run calmed both my mind and my wolf.
But today?
Nothing worked.
My wolf growled inside me, uneasy… anxious… as if searching for something he couldn’t see yet.
Something is wrong, I thought.
Deciding the run wasn’t helping, I turned back toward the pack house. The moment I reached the outskirts of our territory, my wolf suddenly became hyper-alert. My body heated up, senses sharpening unnaturally.
I shifted behind a large tree and quickly pulled on my clothes.
And then—
A scent hit me.
Fresh. Sweet. Like wildflowers after rain.
My world froze.
My wolf lifted his head and howled in pure happiness inside me.
Mate.
My heart slammed violently against my chest.
“She’s here,” I whispered in disbelief. “My mate is here… in the pack house.”
Without wasting a second, I rushed inside, following the scent like my life depended on it. My feet moved on their own, heart racing as the pull grew stronger with every step.
I found her standing near the hallway, her back facing me, talking to someone.
The moment I moved closer, her body stiffened.
She felt it too.
She turned around slowly.
And the second our eyes met, the entire world faded away.
“Mate,” we both whispered at the same time.
She was beautiful.
Soft eyes. Innocent face. My wolf pressed against my soul, claiming her already.
Mine.
I had found her.
My mate.

Logan’s POV
I was in my office, going through territorial reports when a deafening voice exploded inside my head.
“I FOOOUUUNNNDDDDD MYYYYY MAAAATTTTEEEEEE, GUYSSSS!!!”
I slammed my hand on the desk, growling instantly.
Control yourself, i***t.
I was happy for him—of course I was—but a small, bitter ache settled in my chest.
He found his mate.
And I still had no idea where mine was.
It wasn’t that I needed a mate… but my pack needed a Luna.
Before I could respond through the mind link—
BANG!
My office door burst open.
Sam stood there, eyes glowing with excitement, practically bouncing on his feet. And beside him stood a girl—nervous, curious, and clearly overwhelmed.
He dragged her inside like a victorious warrior returning with treasure.
“Meet my mate!” Sam announced proudly.
I looked at her carefully. She was young, small, and completely unaware that her life had just changed forever.
She extended her hand toward me politely.
“Hi, Alpha. Nice to meet you.”
Her respect was immediate.
“Nice to meet you,” I replied with a nod.
“Where did you two meet?” I asked her calmly.
Before she could answer, Sam jumped in, grinning like a fool.
“Downstairs! Can you believe it?”
I raised an eyebrow, confused for a moment—
And then it hit me.
Today… one of our pack warrior’s daughters was returning after years.
“So,” I said slowly, connecting the dots, “you’re the one who came back today to rejoin the pack.”
She nodded.
Sam blinked at her. “Rejoin the pack? Why did you leave?”
Before she could reply, a knock sounded at the door.
“Come in,” I said.
Rita stepped inside.
The moment Sam saw her, he rushed forward and hugged her in pure excitement. “I FOUND MY MATE!”
Rita looked at the girl, her eyes widening in shock.
The girl finally spoke, her voice soft but clear.
“I lived with my aunt and uncle in Black Water Pack. My dad is a pack warrior here… my mom died when I was very young. Dad left me there so I could be safe. Now I’m old enough to take care of myself—and him. So I asked to come back.”
Rita’s expression softened. “Your name is Shelly, right?”
Shelly nodded.
“Shelly…” Sam repeated dreamily. “What a beautiful name.”
He hadn’t taken his eyes off her even once.
Shelly shifted nervously. “I need to go back downstairs. My luggage is still there. I didn’t even meet my dad yet.”
She turned slightly toward Sam, raising an eyebrow.
“Also… I would like to know my mate’s name. I was dragged into the Alpha’s office right after discovering the mate bond, and he didn’t even think of introducing himself.”
Rita let out a chuckle.
Sam stood there frozen—processing her words—before his face broke into a shy grin.
“I’m Sam… your mate.”
And for the first time since she entered, Shelly smiled.
A real smile.
Watching them, a strange mix of emotions stirred inside me.
Hope…
And a quiet reminder that destiny always arrives when you least expect it
