Kiya POV
I almost forgot that he was still standing there — after scanning every corner of my apartment like a security camera, he was now about to peek inside my bedroom.
“What?” I stood up immediately, hands crossed over my chest.
He might have been blessed with a god-gifted body and annoyingly handsome face, but that didn’t change the fact that he was still a stranger.
He was now leaning against my bedroom doorway, arms crossed, eyes glinting with amusement—as if he was enjoying my irritation.
My heartbeat betrayed me.
“In what universe do I go stay with a total stranger just because he says so?”
His lips curved slightly.
“The one where your life is in danger,” he replied calmly.
I scoffed. “Bold of you to assume I trust you.”
Something unreadable flickered in his crystal-brown eyes.
“You don’t have to trust me,” he said quietly. “But you will come.”
The confidence in his tone sent an unexpected shiver down my spine.
Ken rushed in before things could escalate.
“He didn’t mean it like that,” he said quickly. “What he meant was… we’ll be staying in his company’s residential area. Where Rita stays. Just for a few days.”
Ken turned to him, signaling him to explain properly.
“Wait,” I placed my hands on my waist. “You’re moving in with Rita?”
“No,” Ken replied. “We’ll be in the same house, but different bedrooms.”
“What?” My irritation level shot up instantly.
“Rita works for the RB company,” Ken continued. “They provide accommodation on company property. Since she’s close to Logan, he arranged it for us to stay there for some time. Now could you please start PACKING?”
The last word came out through gritted teeth. He was clearly running out of patience.
So his name is Logan.
Ken added with a fake smile, “Please consider it some sort of vacation…”
I was still not convinced. But staying close to Rita was the best way to keep an eye on her… and on them. Something about all this felt off, and I wanted answers.
“Fine,” I finally said.
Wolf.
Kidnapping.
Rita.
Unknown enemies.
And now this mysterious overconfident man wanting to take me somewhere unknown.
My gut screamed trouble.
But something else tugged at me too.
Something dangerous… and strangely magnetic.
“But if this turns out to be some twisted horror movie, I will sue both of you from the afterlife.”
Ken exhaled in relief.
The man smiled.
And for some reason… that smile made my heart skip in the worst possible way.
I turned around — and froze.
Logan was already inside my bedroom.
Touching my gadgets like checking if it was safe.
“What do you think you’re doing?” I almost snatched my device from his hand.
“Out,” I spat.
He didn’t like my tone. I could see it in the way his jaw tightened. He stared at me for a long second, then silently walked out of my room.
Only then did my eyes fall on my reflection in the mirror.
Messy bun.
A small screwdriver stuck in my hair.
An oversized t-shirt hanging loosely on my body.
Clothes scattered everywhere.
Half-eaten food on the side table.
And I knew my living room wasn’t any better.
He saw everything.
Embarrassment moment number 3.
I quickly packed my things and ended up with three bags. If I was going into unknown territory, I’d need my gadgets. All of them.
Ken came in, looked at the bags, then at me.
“We’re only going for a short time. Why the hell do you have three bags?”
“I will only come with these many bags. Make me leave even one… and I’ll drop the plan entirely.”
Ken sighed in defeat. He knew arguing with me was pointless.
Logan was waiting in the living room when I came out. Ken managed to take two bags with him while I struggled with the third one. Before I could say anything, Logan stepped forward, picked up the heavy bag like it weighed nothing, and walked out.
Ken and I just stood there, staring at each other in shock.
“Uh… let’s go,” Ken finally broke the silence. “We’re already late.”
In the parking area, two cars were waiting. Rita gestured for Ken to join her in the first car. Shelly and the other guy took the front seats.
Ken looked at me. I nodded. I’ll be fine.
I walked toward the second car. Logan had already opened the passenger seat door for me. But considering how often I embarrassed myself around him, I decided to save my dignity for the night.
“I want to sleep,” I said quietly. “I’m tired.”
It was the best excuse I could come up with.
He simply nodded and moved to the driver’s seat.
As the car started moving, exhaustion finally caught up with me. I shifted to the back seat, curled up slightly, and within moments… sleep took over me.
Unaware of the world I was about to wake up into.
