44 – River’s POV:
After the announcements were made, I made a quick get a way. Not that I’m not happy for Emerson or my pack, but I can’t stay and watch them. It just doesn’t seem fair that they get their happy ever after when my Fated Mate is lying in a coma. I have always done everything to save myself for my mate. I always done everything that was expected of me. Followed the rules and waited for my mate. Then you have Emerson, who did everything to try to find a way to get out of having his Fated Mate. Had a s****l relationship for three years with the one that turns out to be my Fated Mate. He still gets to be happy while I’m at the bedside praying to the Goddess that my Mate will wake up.
I make it back to the Clinic and walk up to my Mate lying in her bed. I give her a kiss on her
