40 – River POV:
It has been 24 hours since I have found my Fated Mate. I’m so confused that I don’t know what to do. I’m sitting inside a bar in the closest town from where we are camping. We are just now finishing up with the last pack, then we will be on our way back home. Home, I really don’t know if I want to go home right now. I have a Mate. I’m so happy to find my Fated, but then I think of who she is and my heart drops down to my stomach. I don’t know what to do. I order another mixed drink and yes, it has wolfsbane in it. I know so not like me the reliable soon to be Beta of the pack.
I remember my mom telling the story of her and my dad. They grew up together in the same group of friends. My dad always wanted to date my mom all through high school and she always turned him down.
