“That’s not possible, my friends paid for a cabin.”
“Are you very sure about that? I think if they did, you would have been assigned to a cabin that does not have an occupant.”
All the initial attraction I felt for him washed away in that very moment. He spoke to me like I was a child with comprehension issues, he was a condescending animal who thinks the world should bow to him just because he is attractive.
“Don’t talk to me like that.”
“Like what?”
“Like I’m a child.”
He shrugged and walked to the couch. My hands balled into fists and I ground my teeth as I watched him turn on the TV like our situation was normal. He was in my cabin! I bet he sneaked in here.
Marching up to him, I snatched the remote out of his hand and turned off the TV.
“I demand that you leave.”
“Excuse me?” He genuinely looked annoyed this time, and I couldn’t decide if he looked hotter or scary when annoyed.
“I said you should leave, you are obviously in the wrong place. I know what my friends paid for and I will not allow you mess it up just because you are a freeloader.”
He blinked and jerked his head back. “I’m sorry, what? A free loader?”
I crossed my arms under my boobs and nodded. “That’s what I said and my eyes are up here.”
“I know where your eyes are, but I wasn’t looking at them, and two, I am not a free loader, I paid for this space.”
“Maybe you’re mistaken.”
He sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose.
“You don’t think even for once that you might be the one that is mistaken?”
“I don’t think so. A porter even led me here.”
“So did… you know what, this is pointless.”
He brushed me aside and grabbed the landphone on the desk behind me. He aggressively punched in some numbers then dialed it, once whoever he was calling picked he thrusted the phone into my hands.
“Here, the receptionist, why don’t you go ahead and lay your complaint.”
“I will,” I grabbed on tight to the phone, cleared my throat and began speaking. “Hello, this is Miss Mi-, sorry, I’m Miss Walsh, I think there’s been a problem with my cabin. My friend paid for a cabin, but there’s a man here, claiming this was also assigned to him.”
“I apologize for the inconvenience ma’am, please give me a minute to go through your information.”
“Of course,” I eyed the stranger, who just smiled.
The receptionist was back on the call after a few minters, and I readied myself for my victory.
“I have gone through your details, ma’am, and it says here that it was a room that was paid for.”
“What? Can you check that again?”
“I’m looking at it now, ma’am, and I am positive. If you’d like to upgrade to a cabin, it is available ma’am, you just have to make a payment of $3000 and it will be yours.”
I choked on my own spit. 3 what?
“That’s fine, thank you.”
I put down the phone and shut my eyes. Embarrassment was already flooding my veins and the sign of it was on my cheeks which were flaming hot.
“So, how did that go? Is anyone going to be here any minute to throw me out?”
I didn’t have to look at him to know he had a smile on his face, but knowing that did not prepare me for how insanely cute it was when I turned and he was actually smiling.
It didn’t look like a mocking smile, or maybe I was just distracted by the dimples on his face.
“Hello,” he waved his fingers before my eyes and I jerked my head back, blinking rapidly.
“Shut up.”
I can’t believe I would be stuck here for 10 days with such an asshole. A freakishly sexy asshole, but an asshole nonetheless. I eyed him, then stormed over to my bag to pick it up and go lock myself in a room.
When I grabbed it, I felt a presence behind me and soon, a hand wrapped over mine and my heart wasn’t the only thing that skipped a beat.
“What do you think you’re doing?”
I removed my hand from his as though it burnt me.
“The right thing”
My eyes went from the bag to his hand that was wrapped around it. Was he trying to be a gentleman and carry it up for me?
“I don’t need your help, I can carry my bag.”
His brows immediately inched closer to each other, and he let go of the bag, then proceeded to wipe his hand on his trousers.
“I never said you couldn’t, and I was not about to carry the bag.”
My face once again heat up, and I wished I could hit him for putting me in embarrassing corners.
“Then what did you mean by, I want to do the right thing?”
“Oh-that, I was stopping you to demand an apology.”
I must have heard that wrong.
“Can you repeat what you just said.”
“I can.”
I waited to hear him him repeat it but he just stared at me, that’s when it hit me that he’s probably one of those correct English term usage people or he was just being extremely annoying.
“Why would I apologize to you. What happened was a misunderstanding.”
“No, it wasn’t.” He clicked his tongue as he shook his head. “You turned off my TV and you called me a freeloader, that’s an insult, and you should apologize.”
“Well, you called me a…” I paused and took a deep breath. Why the hell was I acting like a child with this man? I was more composed than this.
“There it is, deep breaths to calm down.”
I ground my teeth once again, there’s no way I was going to be composed around such an annoying asshole. Wrapping my hand around my bag once again, I picked it up.
“I’m sorry and let us stay out of each other’s way!”
I walked up the stairs and made sure to tune out whatever it was that he said afterwards because I was too busy praying that I don’t kill him before my holiday was over.
