Episode 22:Secret unveiled

566 Words
Lucy woke the next morning to an empty bed. The silence was heavier than any words they’d exchanged last night. She knew Lucas needed space, but the distance felt like a wall rising again—one she desperately wanted to tear down. Her phone buzzed. A message from Lucas: *“Can we meet? There’s something I have to tell you.”* Her heart skipped, caught between hope and fear. At the café where they agreed to meet, Lucas was already waiting. His eyes were tired but determined. “I’ve been keeping something from you,” he began, voice low. “Something that’s been eating at me.” Lucy swallowed hard, bracing herself. “There’s more to the mistake I told you about. It wasn’t just a moment. It was someone from my past—someone who’s been trying to pull me back into a life I thought I left behind.” Lucy’s breath hitched. “Why didn’t you tell me before?” “Because I was ashamed. And afraid you’d leave.” She reached for his hand. “Lucas, I’m not perfect. But I need honesty, no matter how painful.” He nodded, squeezing her hand. “Her name is Mara. She showed up again when I was vulnerable. I didn’t know how to say no. I was weak.” Lucy’s heart clenched with a mix of anger and sorrow. “And you’re telling me now because…?” “Because I want to fight for us, with everything I have. No more lies. No more secrets.” Tears welled up in Lucy’s eyes. “I want to believe you.” “We’ll take it one day at a time,” Lucas promised. As they sat there, hands intertwined, the storm between them wasn’t over. But for the first time in a long while, there was a fragile thread of trust — a chance to rebuild what almost broke. Lucy nodded, sitting down across from him, hands clasped tightly in her lap. “You said there’s something you need to tell me?” Lucas took a deep breath, as if trying to gather courage from somewhere deep inside. “I’ve been keeping something from you. Something I should have said a long time ago.” Her heart skipped, a cold knot tightening in her stomach. “What is it?” He looked down at his hands, fingers twitching nervously. “There’s someone from my past—Mara. She’s been trying to pull me back into a life I thought I left behind.” Lucy’s breath caught. “Mara?” He nodded. “She came back into my life when I was vulnerable, after everything with my father… I wasn’t strong enough to say no.” Lucy fought back the surge of anger and hurt rising in her chest. “Why didn’t you tell me before? Why keep this secret?” “Because I was ashamed,” he admitted, voice barely above a whisper. “Afraid you’d leave if you knew the truth.” Tears welled in Lucy’s eyes. She bit her lip, trying to keep her voice steady. “Lucas, I’m not perfect. I’ve made mistakes too. But I can’t handle lies. Not anymore.” He reached across the table, taking her hand gently. “I want to be honest with you, from now on. No more secrets. I want to fight for us.”
