Chapter 27: The Gloves Come Off

303 Words
Alexander Blackwood had always respected powerful opponents—but respect didn't mean mercy. Isabella thought she could rattle his investors and make them question his leadership. It was a bold move. A dangerous one. Now, she had his full attention. Alexander sat in his penthouse office, overlooking the city that had made him a king. His fingers tapped against his desk as Lily finished her report. "She's targeting investors through subtle media leaks and insider speculation. Some of our backers are already asking questions." Alexander smirked. "Then let's remind them why betting against me is a mistake." He turned to his chief strategist. "Double down on our success. Schedule an exclusive investor gala at The Grand Royale. We'll present our expansion plans, showing them that Blackwood Enterprises is stronger than ever." Lily nodded. "And Carter?" Alexander's gaze darkened. "We make sure she doesn't get the chance to celebrate this little victory." Isabella was reviewing financial projections when Claire burst into her office, face pale. "We have a problem." She tossed a legal document onto Isabella's desk. A lawsuit. Filed by Blackwood Enterprises, alleging defamation and corporate interference. Isabella scanned the paperwork, her pulse quickening. "He's actually suing me?" Claire nodded. "And that's not all. He's also hosting a massive investor gala to counter everything we've been doing." A slow, sharp smile spread across Isabella's face. Oh, Alexander. He wanted to silence her? To prove he was untouchable? Then he was about to learn something crucial— She didn't scare easily. She turned to Claire. "We're going to that gala." Claire's eyes widened. "You realize we weren't invited, right?" Isabella smirked. "We don't need an invitation. We need an opening." Because if Alexander Blackwood wanted a war, then she would bring the fire straight to his doorstep. And this time? She wasn't playing fair.
