Truth or Dare-ing?

CHAPTER 10

Katherine Whitlock

I was walking down the hallway while fidgeting with my phone when a group of boys held my hands. A soft fabric had been placed in my eyes. I see nothing but total darkness.

“ Where are you taking me!” A rush of panic and adrenaline runs through my body. Yet we are still walking, I felt the soft tickle of grass in my feet. I realized that we came to a stop, the fabric loosened and I slowly opened my eyes to see Kyro in front of me. He was wearing an oversize sweatshirt with matching carhartt leg plain jeans. His left hands hold a bouquet of pink flowers.

I blink and search the area we are in the garden. “ What are you doing here?” I asked, a hint of irritation flickering through my voice. My eyes are not leaving him.

“ I just miss you Princess!”I sarcastically laugh at his excuses. He was about to hand me the flower but I backed off. He paused and confusion spread across his face. “ Aww, Princess! Don’t you want any flowers?” He made an awful act of hurt in his face which I find irritating to look at.

“ Why don’t you just play with other girls and not me?” This guy won’t stop from claiming what's his just like Austin. He gave me headaches. Why can't he just leave me alone?

“ I told you already. You’re the one for me and I will do anything to make you mine.. Princess. Mark my words. Anata o watashi no mono ni shite agemasu, purinsesu” His words left me dumbfounded as to where I am standing. I watch from a distance as he slowly disappears in my sight. Another trouble I’ve had.

As I watched him disappear I ran to Austin’s office. I was breathing heavily when I stood in front of his office. When I slowly opened the door, I saw files and files of paper on my desk. I searched for Austin, he’s sitting in his swivel chair, staring coldly at me with his arms crossed.

“ You’re late…. Darling.” He greeted me with that cold voice and stare.

“ I just did…something” I lied, looking at the stack of files. My chemistry subject will start later. I can’t finish this work. I sighed and sat on my desk feeling hopeless.

“ I’ll take that as an excuse.”

“ Austin” I called but no response from him. I tried calling him again and this time his blue eyes are now focused on mine.

“ What do you want?”

“ Why so grumpy lately? The prom is about to start next week. So, what’s your plan?” I asked him.

“ Not my problem if I’m grumpy…. The principal gave me the list of materials that are needed for the prom. I already told the selective offers to arrange the venus soon enough and we’ve been asked to buy materials… You’re coming with me” A long silence surrounds the room after Austin’s informational short speech.

“ Austin!”

“ Austin, who’s your prom date?”

“ Does it matter, knowing her?”

“ Fine. Nevermind. Mr. Cold-Heartless Man” I murmured and returned to my work.

Austin Zayne Marshall

The prom is going to start next week and I still have no plans. I don’t like going to parties and being bored watching as they dance and interact with each other. I steal a glance at Katherine who is now busy doing her documents. I purposely did put stacks of files on her desk. She lied on seeing Kyro at the school and pretended everything is fine when it isn’t with me seeing my girl with another man.

A prom date? I may not like going to the parties and this prom but she has no idea how crazy I am planning a promposal for her. I smirk at the thought of Katherine and I dancing at the center of the crowd. She would totally look stunning and I would be the luckiest man to dance to such a pretty goddess like her. I steal another glance at Katherine, she’s totally focused on her work.

While I busy myself working on my computer, I can’t help seeing how focused Katherien is. Just as I was admiring her, the door to my office slowly creaked open revealing Jay and Gabriel. I glance at Katherine for another time to see her reaction but she seems so focused that she didn’t know Jay and Gabriel entered the room.

“ Hey, Pre!” Jay greeted me while he walked on the empty chair near my desk.

“ Pres, here’s the materials needed for the prom. The principal asked us to give this to you.” he added while handing me the ticket. This is the ticket I asked them to book for. I coldly stare at them before asking them to leave.

“ Ms. Whitlock” I break the silence that surrounds us after Jay and Gabriel leave the room.

“ Yea?” She looked up, staring at my ocean blue eyes. I made my way towards her, not breaking the eye contact we have. I slipped the ticket at the table.

“ What is this for?” She asked, raising her eyebrows while studying the ticket.

“ Can’t you read it? A ticked obviously”

“ Mr. President, I know how to read. What I meant was. What am I gonna do with this ticket?”

“ You’ll come with me.”

What!? For your information, I’m your secretary but that doesn’t mean I’m coming with you all the time.”

“ Who said you're just only my secretary? You’re more than my secretary. Right, Darling?”

“ But what about the materials needed for the Prom?”

“ We’ll buy it there… and you’re not only coming with me as my secretary. Understood, Darling?”

“ Fine!”” She annoyingly said, making me chuckle softly.

Katherine Whitlock

I wondered what’s up with this guy? We are just going to Japan to buy the material? Is he joking? We can also buy it here? Why go to Japan if we could find materials here? This game will be over soon. I just have to play with this guy. Whom he would date at the prom.

“ Austin?” I asked with a slight pique of curiosity.

“Who’s your prom date?”

“ Do you really have to know? It doesn’t matter who she was, "he said in a bored tone before returning to work. See? This guy couldn’t even answer my question properly. He always left me hanging in the air for the answers.

“ So when are w-we going to leave?”

“ This weekend” he fidgeted with the pen in his hand.

I’ve been working here for hours together with the silence surrounding us and I check to see the time, my chemistry class is starting in a minute.

“ Austin? “

“ What?”

“ I need to go now. See you later…. “ I dash out of the door without having to hear his complaint. He would be totally mad at me but I don’t care. As I headed into my chemistry class, my eyes searched for Miles' presence and I found him sitting at the back near the window waving at him.

“ Miles!”

“ Hey, the class is about to start you’re just in time”

“ Do you think it would work?” I asked, sitting beside him as I looked at our work.

“ Just believe”

We present our project to the class, it’s an erupting volcano. While I walk in front I watched the expression of every student watching us closely.

“ Hello everybody, me and Miles are presenting our work. It is an erupting volcano. “ I started while Miles arranged the materials needed for our project to work. For minutes of discussing how our project would work, Miles added a liquid on the center of the volcano causing it to erupt. Seeing the reaction of everyone makes me feel a mix of emotion.

I felt happy after we got the highest grade among our classmates. “ We did it! Thanks!” I said happily while I hugged him. My mind is still occupied from the work we did earlier and I stopped when I saw Kyro at the parking lot, bringing his mischievous smile. He was standing beside my car.

“ What do you think you’re doing here?”

“ Oh Princess! Just wanna asked you on a date?”

“ Kyro. Thank you for the offer but I have a date.” I lied as I tried to maintain a challenging tone in front of him. My smile grew bigger as I saw the look on Kyro’s face. Just as I was happily enjoying how stunned he was I felt an arm wrap around my waist and gently pull me.

“ We’re going on a date. Right Darling?” a familiar cold voice greeted me. What is he doing here? I just nodded, I don’t know what to say. I feel speechless. What… did he just appear so suddenly. Wrapping my arms around me? I tried to maintain our position before Kyro backoff. I heard Austin say something in Japanese that I myself can’t understand.

“ Mōichido kurikaesu hitsuyō ga arimasu ka? Kanojo kara hanarete kudasai. Kanojo wa watashi no monodesu. Kanojo ni furetara, watashi ga anata no itokodatta koto o kōkai surudeshou” Austin said before Kyro walk away I heard him cursed from the distance before disappearing in my sight.

I pulled away from Austin and he seemed shocked but immediately regained his composure.

“ What is that a threat you made to Kyro? He seems scared huh? “

“ Oh… Let’s go on a date then….remember. We’ll be having a date” I said with a wink as I opened my door and slipped through it. I heard Austin groan but immediately got inside.

While in the middle of the drive I notice Austin stealing glances at me. I smirk seeing how cute he is.

“ I’ll be melting right now if you keep staring at me like that Mister.”

“ Melting from my glances then? Am I that hot already that you’ll melt ... .Darling?” He fires back at me. I felt a sudden rush of adrenaline in my body. I felt my cheeks burning. I cleared my throat and focused on driving.

“ Why so quiet lately Darling ... .Did I push you too much?” I heard a soft chuckled escape from his lips before looking at the window.

“ Don’t flatter yourself too much Mr. Marshall. “ I sarcastically told him and awkwardly laughed. The butterflies in my stomach start to grow again. I took a deep breath and glanced at the fancy restaurant we stopped at. I glanced at Austin who is currently staring at me. Those ocean blue eyes are looking dead serious at me.

“ S-shall we go now?”While we entered the restaurant, none of us dared to speak except for the sound of the violin that was playing at the side. We sat on the table near the window.

“So?” I started while the waiter took our food. He’s in his cold demeanor again. I grinned, trying my best not to let my guard down at him.

“ Are you just gonna watch me here?”

“ Can’t I just admire the beautiful view I’ve seen in front of me?” The way he said it makes my heart beat faster. Austin, you got a lot in your sleeves. Huh? How interesting. A cold-heartless guy like you can make such a beautiful comment.

“ Oh really? Should I be grateful for that?” Not a minute by the time the food arrives. I noticed Austin kept stealing glances at me. “ Interesting. Very interesting” He said while smiling. A smile that I’ve seen for the very first time.

“ Does that add my score to your heart?”?

“ You really know how to get a man’s attention huh?” The sarcasm in his tone is evident. I felt a knot in my stomach, I think I need cold water to splash this face of mine.

“ What’s your ideal type for a girl?”

“ Darling, what would I look for in a girl if she's already in front of me.” My cheeks burn from embarrassment and stunned. He really knows how to make an effect on me huh.

“ really? How nice. I bet I don’t need to win your heart already cause I already claim it.” I said teasingly while looking at the couple dancing following the beat of the violin.

“ Wanna dance with me?”

“ Don’t tell me you don’t know how to?”

“ What’s the point?”

“ I’ll teach you then” he said and before I could argue he held my hands as we walked towards the crowds of people dancing. For a moment, I was nervous being here in the center of the crowd and dancing with Austin. I shook my head while staring at our feet. But I felt his hand moving to my chin, he slowly pulled it upward. I can tell those blue eyes sparkling with enjoyment and something… affection.

“ You’re too beautiful to look down darling… I wanna see that beautiful face of yours” He softly said while leaning his head against my temple. My heart is beating so fast the way how close Austin is to me.

For the following minutes, my nervousness loosens when I allow myself to indulge in the music. It’s nice seeing how we make a rhythm as the violin plays its beats. I stared at Austin and felt his hand caressing my hair. This time I closed my eyes feeling his touch on me.
