The kitchen was a little more modern than the rest of the house, but a lot of the appliances, the ones that weren’t on the counter tops, were hidden by panels that made them look like the cupboards. Fiana had stopped in front of me and stared at the room. She saw the sink and went to it, turning a knob to make the water flow. She said something cheerfully. I looked through the cupboards and got her a cup. She filled it with water and sipped it, then said something else. As she talked, she pointed to the cup, then the water inside.
