22 Though it was late, I could do anything but sleep. In desperate need of an escape plan, I turned on the bedside lamps and perused the room for anything I could use. Unfortunately, there wasn’t much. The potions I had hidden in the closet were gone. There was nothing useful in the drawers, no forgotten daggers or other weapons. I searched the walls and windows—no cracks or secret doors, and the window led to the steep side of the mountain. Unless I wanted to fall to my death, I couldn’t get out through there. I could break a mirror and use a shard as a weapon, but what good would that do to me against dozens of witches and the Dark Order? No, I needed something more.
