She knew it…

After a few days, Mom told me that Dad and Gran had gone for a walk and that they won’t be back till afternoon. Now is my chance to talk to Mom. “Mom, can we talk?” I asked impatiently. “About what?” She asked while tapping on her phone. “About Dad and Grandma” She suddenly went stiff. “What about them?” She asked after a long moment. I could sense that she was hiding something and whatever it was she absolutely didn’t wanted to talk ‘bout it. “Haven’ you noticed somthin’ strange about ‘em? I mean I know they kind of look the same as before but haven’t you sensed something strange about them?! I know you think that I’m crazy but I can tell that somethin’s really off ‘bout them. Haven’ you also noticed that the way they keep staring at something and the way they smile so wide is just so creepy, so unusual. I bet you that a normal human can’ smile this wide. It’s jus’ so impossible!” I kept on going about all that stuff and to my surprise she didn’t interrupt me not even once instead she kept listening silently. “Mom, Haven’t you noticed!? “Lukas… Luke, let’s not talk about this… ” She looked uncomfortable for the first time since I’ve known her. “WHY!? Haven’t you noticed…?” She stayed silent for a really long while. “Are you… are you hiding something from me?” I was on the edge of screaming. More silence. “MOM!!” I think if she stayed silent even for one more second I’m gonna’ lose myself. She sank to the floor and burst into tears. Hot tears started rolling down on her cheeks. “Mom! What happened?! Say something, why are you crying just say something.” I sat beside her and hugged her to comfort her. I kept asking the same questions over and over again but she didn’t said even a word. I don’t understand… what’s going on?! “Lukas, my dear,… of course I have … noticed…” I knew it. “And it scares me to death! And the way they smile- ” I knew it. “Is so evil!! Your Dad he…” I was right. “He has changed a lot since we came here…” Those weren’t hallucinations. “He used to make me happy when I felt sad, He used to comfort me when I felt lonely inside, but now…” My mind wasn’t playing tricks on me… “He… he just keeps staring at me whenever we go to bed! Even if I move to the opposite side after turning the lights off, I feel his eyes on me and it creeps me out!!” It was real. “It’s so hard to sleep with him. I find him staring at me even when I wake up in the middle of the night like he hadn’t slept the whole time!!! And the same thing seems to be happening to your Granny she also keeps staring at me.” The shadows, the reflection… It was all real! “I don’t know what’s happening!” She knew it… “I feel like I don’t know them!!” She knew it…
