Ryland moves Amara to the couch, placing her down gently just as Thaddeus comes back in with Orion. Imogen, Ryland, and I all stare at Thaddeus, my heart skipping a beat as Amara’s words echo in my mind. Thaddeus notices his sister on the couch and rushes over.
“What happened?” he asks, looking to his mother. Imogen stares at her son with fearful eyes before her gaze darts to me. Ryland answers before she can. “Nothing happened, she just passed out,” he says. Thaddeus knows he’s lying—I can see it on his face.
“What did she see?” he demands, turning to me. I’ve gone completely mute, unable to form a single word. How can one person destroy the world? Cities and countries, maybe… though the entire world? That’s something else entirely.
