Evelyn My head pounds, and I can’t figure out why. The last thing I remember is turning to see April—the look on her face. Disgust. Burning hatred. Why was she angry? I open my eyes. Sweat clings to my skin. A fluorescent light glares down at me, stabbing into my skull. The sharp copper scent of blood drips down the side of my face. I reach up—panic stops me cold. My hands are zip-tied to a chair. I yank at the restraints, heart racing. Pieces of memory scatter. I was going to see Lana. I saw April. Why was she so mad? My wrists are bleeding.
