I entered my mother's house with a solemn expression, already bracing myself for the conversation that was about to unfold. I could picture exactly how she would react when I told her about my human mate, and it wasn't going to be pretty.
"It's been a while since you last visited," my mother's familiar voice called out from the kitchen. "I was starting to think you'd forgotten where I live."
I couldn't help but roll my eyes at her comment. "You know I've been swamped with work," I replied, making my way into the kitchen to find her busy stirring something on the stove.
