I walk to the training field. The tank has its lid shut which means Danny is down there. The computer screen shows two minutes and forty seconds left. I stand and wait for the timer to reach zero. When the lid opens Danny climbs out. She sees me and looks irritated. “I don’t want to talk. Just leave me alone.” She goes to walk away.
“I saw your father last month.” She froze at my words. She slowly turned around giving me a look of disbelief.
“You never told me?” She asked
“Please just sit down and talk.” I turn around and head to a clearing on the field. I sit down on the grass and wait for her to sit next to me.
“Did he say anything?” She asked
“No. You were training on the balancing beam. He watched you but he looked disappointed.” I said
