Diana 's POV "Diana , where do you think you're going? Have you forgotten that the mating ceremony is tomorrow?" Dora demanded. She stood up glaring at me, I felt it was obvious where I was going because I was dressed for a party. Her arms were folded across her chest and she balanced her weight on her left foot, c*****g her hips out. I stared back at her, fidgeting with my clothes. I didn't exactly know what to say to her. "Aunt Dora, I was invited to a get-together for the company, I must attend," I explained. Well deep down, I was wondering why it was an issue anyway. She was the one who always told me to go out more often so I could find a mate. How come it was an issue when I had to pay attention to a party? "Oh Diana!" she exclaimed. "Listen, I have waited a long time for this to happen. When I lost my family back in the east, I came here and received all kinds of male attention." I groaned internally. Every time she wanted me to do something related to finding a mate, she always told me that story. Well not tonight, I didn't have much time. "Aunt Dora, I gotta go. I have to be there on time as a worker of the company" I said. I walked over to her and hugged her tightly. " I'll be back in time for the ceremony tomorrow". "Promise?" "Promise!" That was how I managed to escape. Honestly, I had been working with Locke Group for a year and two months and nobody knew me. I hadn't ever seen the boss eye to eye. I heard rumors that he was going to make a show today. On my arrival at the party, I was greeted by two of my coworkers. I was surprised because I was always invisible. Nevertheless, I greeted them back. "Diana, you made it." One said. I think his name is Joshua. The other guy smiled. "I'm surprised." I simply chuckled. "Well, here I am. I did come and I guess everyone will be surprised to see me." Joshua smiled softly at me. "You look beautiful." "Thanks" I tucked my hair behind my ear. "I will leave you two to catch some fun, I need drinks." I knew it was only a means of excuse and honestly, I wanted to be alone so I shook my head quickly. "I am very antisocial so being here is already tiring, I do not think I could cope with holding a discussion," I said. "So if you'll excuse me, I will just go in to show my face and then I will probably leave". Without waiting for their response I left hurriedly. The banquet was held in the company's hall. Once I greeted the people I knew, I found my way to the roof of the building. The cold breeze swept passed me and I felt at ease. I preferred solitude so much more than anything else. "Ah..." I exclaimed softly. "The breeze is so chilly." "You shouldn't be up here." A masculine voice sounded from behind me. Quickly I turned to know who had snuck up to the roof to catch me here. It was indeed a man, he looked so handsome, I could feel my heart skip several beats. He wore a midnight blue tuxedo and his blonde hair was styled to the back giving him a very manly look. I smiled softly. "I could say the same about you, why are you here yourself?" The man only chuckled. He started a slow walk towards me and when he got to where I was he stopped. I thought he probably had a trick up his sleeve so I became a little wary. He continued his slow walk, going around me rather than standing before me. "I find that question weird and unnecessary." He said. "And if you weren't so hot, I would have probably fired you." Fired me? My eyes widened in realization. The man was the boss? If he was then what was he doing up here rather than down in the banquet? I wanted to ask but then my mind replayed his sentence. If I wasn't hot? So hot? Did he think I was hot? "What is your name"? He asked, finally turning to stare at my face. My heated face must be reddened by now. "Diana," I replied. He took my hand in his and took it to his lips, then planted a soft kiss on the back of my palm. It was the first time I received such warm treatment from anyone. "You have a pretty name, Diana. A name is as beautiful as you are. you mustn't be from Mexico . I haven't heard such a name around here." "I am not from here," I replied, affirming his suspicion. "I moved here about six years ago and I have been with my aunt since then." "That's lovely, I don't think I've ever seen you around. Six years is more than enough for me to meet someone as beautiful as you are." He said again. Why was he just complimenting me? Did he not know I was a girl? "Will you dance with me?" He asked softly. I could feel butterflies in my stomach. I nodded twice and he smiled. He held my hand and we began to dance. The song playing from the hall was loud enough and we danced to it, on the roof. The air seemed to get thick with emotion and I didn't know how it happened, but he leaned in and we started kissing. The way he kissed me, I have never felt anything as such before. When we broke off from the kiss, his eyes held so much affection that I got carried away. "Diana , what are you doing to me? I have never felt such a thing before." He said. "Never." I smiled softly. I didn't know where the boldness came from but I raised my hand and touched his face. He leaned into my palm and closed his eyes. I tiptoed and kissed his lips.
