When Aiden finally released me, I looked in his eyes and saw him looking gloomy, which got me worried.
“Are you okay?” I asked gently while he looked at me and smiled, but I could tell it was forced.
“I’m being serious, Aiden. Are you okay? Did something happen? You look like you have a lot going on in your head, so talk to me.” I pressed further while he then turned to fully face me.
“Yeah, you’re right, I do have a lot going on in my head and I think I should start by asking you the same question. Are you okay, Ruby? And please don’t tell me everything is fine like you’ve been saying since the last couple of times I’ve asked. I know you too well, and I can tell when you’re not happy,” he insisted while I looked away briefly before looking back at him.
