I hurried back to the bed and then laid there quietly, pretending I was still fast asleep. I heard as he paced the room, grabbed his shirt and then made for the door.
I was confused when I didn’t hear the door open and was about to open my eyes to check when I felt wetness on my forehead. It was Asher pressing a soft kiss on me, after which he hurried out.
I was numb for a few minutes and until I heard the sound of the car downstairs. I got up, went to the window and watched as he drove off. I stayed there till there was no trace of him anymore.
I kept standing there, staring blankly at nothing till my legs got weak, and I crashed into the ground. Tears that were already welled up in my eyes started pouring now as I finally started to process the whole thing.
