Chapter four - Back to where I belong

2098 Words
Zach's POV: I pleased my parents for letting me go to my old school. I tried last year, but they were stubborn. This time, they said yes. I don't know how it happened. I was a good boy for a whole week. This took me some time and dedication. The good news is that I'll be back with my friends. I have nothing against the ones I made in the new school, but we talked only there. I will always prefer my old ones. Now, we can continue from where we left off. The good boy is gone. The problem is that I don't know how to make my parents leave so I can have a party. If I ask them, they will start with the questions. I can be direct and honest, but the answer will be no. That's why my friends can't help me. Their parents won't leave the house as well. I can rent a place, but I don't want to pay for that. The money my parents let me have is not enough. They promised to raise my allowance if I was good. This can't happen. I'm not doing anything illegal. There is no reason to worry about me. I'm fine. The other thing is that I don't care about many people. They should do something for me to make me start doing it. For now, I'm happy with my life. I don't do anything. The fact that I have to go to school every day is enough. I hope that things will get back to normal. It feels good to be back in my old school. The teachers weren't happy. It's not like I am. I'm back for other reasons. Now I have to plan a party. I haven't been to one since the summer vacation. I can't break my record. From my friends, I go to parties the most. The reason is simple. Girls. Some don't have many brain cells, but at least they are pretty. It's not like this can replace the brain. For them, it's enough. The same is true for me. I need them only for the satisfaction. I'm in class with my friends. We are texting each other. If we talk, the teacher will call us out. I don't plan to pay attention. Losers and nerds do it. I'm not one of them. At least the teacher didn't take my phone. It's my property, and she can't do anything about that. Otherwise, I'll complain to the principal. He won't help me, but it's worth a try. It's not like I haven't sneaked into the classroom to get it. You have no idea how many times I have done it. When the class finished, we went to our lockers. Freedom. Sweet freedom. - I'm glad this class finished. - I said - I'm glad you are back here. I don't know what magic you did to your parents, but it worked. - Logan said - Well, I had to use my best weapon. - Which was? - Giving them what they want. It was only for a week, but it was enough. - The next step is the party. - I'm still thinking about this. I might have been a good boy for a week, but it doesn't mean they will let me make one. - Can't they go away for a few hours? - Make yours do the same. - No way. They enjoy being at home. - See? We need to find a solution. - I got it! - Dylan said - You got what? - The best idea. - Share it! - Why don't we make our parents have dinner together? One of our houses will be empty. - I bet they won't be together until midnight. - Logan said - Guys, we need them out of the town. The less they know, the better. - Can I ask you something? It's off the topic. - Jake said - Go on. - Do you miss Zoe? - What? Why would I miss her? - Because you were treating her differently than the other girls. - I acted the same. It's her loss that she didn't accept. - The world doesn't spin around you. - You two look alike. - But you still didn't answer my question. - No, I don't miss Zoe. There are plenty of girls here. - Yes, but. - Hey, Christina. What are your plans tonight? - I'll leave them to you. - she said and left - See? - I hope you find a girl who cares about you, so when you lose her, you will understand what an i***t you are. - Did you hit your head somewhere? - Jake, what is going on? You don't look good. - Logan said - I have to go. - he said and walked away - I think we missed something. - Dylan said - Leave him alone. We'll talk another day. We went for the rest of our classes for the day. I didn't pay much attention as usual. How should I ask my parents to let me have a party? I can't kick them out. Maybe I can be honest and ask for it. The answer will be no, but I have tricks on my sleeves. Well, first, I have to put them in. After school, I went to see my mom. She might be the soft one. Luckily, she wasn't with a client. This is a personal matter. I sat in her office and waited for her. - Zach? What are you doing here? I won't give you more money. - I don't need them. - Then what do you want? I have a client after thirty minutes. - Can I have a party? - Where? - At home. - I said, and she laughed - Are you serious? - Yes. - No, you can't. I won't let some teenagers turn my house upside down. - Come on. This won't happen. I promise. I'll clean everything. - I said no. - Please. - Since when have you been using such words? - I want it. - Say whatever you want. The answer is no. - Fine. I bet my dad will say yes. - No, he won't. - Do you want me to prove it to you? - If you want a party, earn it. - What? How? - Start taking responsibility and do your chores. That might help. - When will you let me have it? - When I see a change. - This means never. - That is your choice. - Why do you have to be like that? Can't you be a good mother and say yes? - I am a good mother. Now, go home and do your homework. I have work to do. - It's not fair. - Life is unfair, but we live it. - I wasted my time coming here. - You did. - I won't give up. I'll be your worst nightmare until you say yes. - My nerves are good. - Are you sure? - I asked and left I went to see my dad, but I received the same answer. What am I supposed to do now? I texted my friends, but they had zero ideas. I went home to leave my things. There is no way I will do my homework. After some time, I went out. I know where my parents hide some cash. They should do this when I'm not at home. I went for drinks and saw Zoe. I think she is sleeping. I carefully sat in front of her and slightly pushed her hand. - Zoe. Hey. Zoe. Earth to my princess. - What? I want to sleep. - I don't think you should sleep here. - Zach? What are you doing here? - I came for a drink. What are you doing here? - I wanted to go outside for some time. - Didn't you sleep last night? - Not very well. I almost fell asleep in class. - Why? I don't know you that much. Well, you don't look like such a person. - I'm not. It's a long story. - Do you mind sharing? - Yes, I do. - Oh, ok. I won't bother you. - No, you can stay here. At least I won't sleep in weird places. - I think you need to go home and take a nap. - I don't know if that will be possible. - Why not? Are you arguing with your parents? - No, it's not that. - Then? You can share it with me. - Why would I do that? So you can make fun of me. - I won't. I promise. - Some things I prefer to keep only for myself. - Why? - I don't want everyone to know what is happening with me. - Fine. Do you want us to go for a walk? It might wake you up. - I don't know. I might go home. - Really? You don't want to be with me. - Yes. - I won't do anything to you. I promise. - Since when do you promise things? - Whatever. I'll go. - Can I come? - What? - Didn't you want that? - Let's go. I can get you coffee. - I don't drink coffee. Zoe and I walked around. She asked me about my old school. I'm glad to be back to where I belong. I feel better there. Also, my friends are with me all the time. I kept bugging her so she doesn't fall asleep. I don't know what is going on with her. She looks tired and distracted. We were outside for an hour. Later, she went home. I did the same. My parents were there. I will keep bugging them until I get what I want. Mom set the table and put the dinner. - What were you doing outside? - my mom asked - Wondering how I should convince you. - I already told you. No party in this house. - Come on. I won't ask for anything in the next month. - Only for a month? - What else do you want? - I have told you. Do your chores. - I'm not my dad. - Hey! Rules are rules. You break them, there is no party for you. - Why do you have to be like that? - Because we are parents. - I didn't do anything to you. - We let you go back to your old school. That is enough. - my mom said - I want to have fun with my friends. - Then do it. We haven't stopped you. - How am I supposed to do it when you don't let me have a party? - You can have fun with them without a party. Whatever you do, it won't work for us. - Dad, back me up. - I'm sorry. Your mom is right. No parties. - You two are terrible. - You love us only when we give you what you want. - Can't you say yes? I won't bug you anymore. - Earn it. Final word. - Fine. Enjoy your dinner. I'll be the worst son you have ever had until you let me do it. - I want to see how you will do it. - I stole money from the secret place. - You think I don't know. I check it every day. - What? - Honey, we know you. After all, you are my son. - Why don't you say yes? Please. - How much do you want it? - my dad asked - Much. - For a month, you will do everything we say. That includes making dinner. If you survive, you can have it. - What? No way. I'm not your servant. - It's your choice. My parents are using me for their benefit. I won't give up. There must be a way I can have a party without working for them. I believe my friends can help me with this. The question is how we can do it. Maybe their parents can help me convince mine. That is too much to think about. One thing is sure. My party will be open to everyone. Maybe Zoe will come. I have no idea what is going on with her. She needs a rest. I can find where she lives. I'm sure she won't like that. It's better if I stay away from her and her life. I hope that I will have a party soon.
