Growing up, I thought I would get the life I always wanted - a simple life where I could make my own decisions and face the consequences. But real life is more complicated than that. If it wasn't, I wouldn't be here listening to my father, a staunch polygamist, advise me on marital issues and how to make a marriage work.
"Are you ignoring me, Jonathan?" he questions, pulling me back to reality.
I shake my head, feeling a mix of frustration and annoyance. "No, Father, I heard you. I'm working on it," I say simply, trying to cut the conversation short.
"That's not what I want to hear," he says, his voice firm but laced with a hint of disappointment. "I want you to tell me you have someone, or better still, give me the go-ahead and I'll find someone suitable."
