Chapter Ten

1197 Words
**Selenes POV** Running through the woods, branches whipping by her head, she pushes her body to the limits, trying to escape the death that is hot on her heals. She had to get back to him, had to warn him. Pushing even harder with the fear of losing him, her calves scream in protest, ready to give out from the demands she is putting herself through. Her mind racing, she doesn't see the blur that comes out from her right, slamming into her hard, causing her to skid into a near by tree. A sickening crack alerts her to her shoulder blade fracturing as pain shoots down her left fore leg. That is going to take time to heal. Getting a good look at her attacker, she sees a wolf in mid shift, going back to their human form to speak to her. 'Hello Selene.' He smirks. 'Glad I was able to take you by surprise. Taking you one on one would be suicide.' He begins to step closer to her, causing a deep growl to rip from her throat, warning the stranger not to approach. His reaction is to cackle at her and glare. 'You do not outrank me anymore, little wolf. Your growls do nothing to deter me. Now, its time for you to go back, so be a good little b***h and shift so we can head back to your new mate.' Fear pumps through her veins, knowing that if she go back, she will most certainly die at the hands of that pr**k. Choosing death here over going back to that psychopath, anger replaces the fear in her veins, giving her the needed strength to take this piece of sh*t on. Standing on all fours, head low, she prepares to pounce and rip this f****rs throat out. Waking with a start, gasping for air, I realized that the wet feeling was sweat from the strange dream. I have no clue what that was about. I didn't even recognize the man with the sandy blonde hair or know who he was taking me to, but I really hope the feeling in my gut that is going to come true is wrong. Heading to the the bathroom, I prepare the shower and turn to brush through my birds nest of hair. Dark circles sit under my eyes and my already pale skin is white as a sheet. I groan at my appearance, knowing a lot of concealer is going to be needed today. I am going to have to text Erin for his help as he usually did it for me before. Stepping under the water, feeling it beat down on my back helps the tense muscles begin to relax. I begin to lather the shampoo in my hair, focusing on the temples as a headache begins to pound. It's gonna be a long day. An hour later with the help of Erins magical hands, I look a lot better than when I woke up. Erin has been constantly pestering me about why I looked so rough, but I brush him off, still trying to figure out what happened myself. He decides to drop it and fills me in on our plans for the day which includes meeting Andrews Delta, Daniel and the beloved princess of the pack, Andrews baby sister Marney. "You will be fine." Erin reassures. "Marney has an even bigger heart than her brother, she will immediately love you and adopt you as hers. She has always wanted a sister any way and you being Drews mate means she gets her wish." He chuckles. "I hear you, Er." I murmur. "It's just, she is his BABY sister. What if I am not good enough? What if she thinks I am not a good fit for her brother?" My entire body begins to vibrate with nervousness. "Shhhhh." Erin coos. "She will LOVE you, I promise. Now I need you to take a deep breath, Sel unless you want to tear up your clothes. You vibrating means you are close to shifting. Now breathe." He cups my cheeks in his big hands, staring deeply at me. I do as he instructs, the vibrating dissipating slowly. "You ready?" I nod, steeling my nerves. Just then, a very excited knock rings on my door, causing Erin to groan. 'Speak of the devil' he mutters as he goes to the door. "Marmar!" He exclaims. "I missed you munchkin." Who is Marmar? "Erin, you call me munchkin again and I will pull your balls out through your throat." A soft voice growls. "Is she ready?" Turning back to me with a quizzical look, I stand and nod, giving Erin the go ahead for the surprised guest. As he steps to the side, I meet the cerulean blue eyes of a young woman with an adorable pixie hair cut and pouty lips to die for. Her strong nose tips me off that this must be Andrews sister, Marney. Rushing over to me, she wraps me in the warmest hug I have ever received, squealing in excitement. Realizing what she just did to a perfect stranger, she lets go and steps back, a blush flushing across her olive skin. "It is so nice to finally meet you." She gushes. "I'm sorry if I came across too strong, I've been itching to meet you since Drew told me you were coming here. I'm Marney, his kid sister." Giving me a warm smile, my nervousness dissipates. I'm going to like this girl, I can feel it. "It's great to meet you too." I respond, returning her smile. "So are you tagging along for the day? Erin tells me we are off to meet up with Erin and his Delta... Derrick?" "Daniel." They say in unison, grimacing and Marney chimes in. "No dear, I have other duties today, I'm sorry. I just had to come and say hello before I got started. Enjoy your day and I will see you at dinner tonight." She flits out as quickly as she came in. Her reaction to Daniel was strange but I brush it off and head down to the first floor with Erin, making our way to Andrews office. My heart beat quickens with excitement to see my mate again, taking in his wonderful scent. I may have wanted to take things slow with him at first but I am beginning to second guess myself on that, itching to touch him and have him touch me in return. Excitement runs through my body, thoughts of us being together swirls in my head. Lost in my thoughts, I slam into Erins back, not realizing that he had stopped dead in his tracks. "You better keep those dirty thoughts under wraps until you and Drew mate girl." He whispers. "Other wise you will have a parade of unmated males trying to claim you. Your arousal is very apparent." Embarrassment flushes my face at his comment and I shake my head to clear my thoughts. Making our way to Andrews office, we walk in and I stop in my tracks, eyes wide with shock. Standing next to my wonderful mate is the man from my dream.
