**Selenes POV**
Today has been a crazy mix of emotions and changes. Fear from learning that I am now a creature that was believed to be a myth and still has to be believed that way by most. Nervousness and uncertainty from discovering that I have a mate and will eventually have to take on the role of Luna and help him run this pack. Anger for his stupid, caveman like behavior and getting all possessive over my friend touching me. The last of the emotions fills my heart though, joy. After discussing what happened during the attack to Andrew, he gave me a tour of his pack and the lands they live on. The love they all have for each other is so deep and pure that it can be felt all throughout. Even the omegas are very well cared for, which from what I understand from Erin and Andrew, is not very common among packs. Omegas are usually treated very poorly, some even abused but Andrew doesn't want to be that kind of Alpha. He wants to have all members taken care of and them know that no matter what, they can come to their Alpha for anything. He truly was an amazing man.
Coming out of the bathroom after a long shower, I look around at the room I have been given. A huge four poster king size mattress sits in the middle of the room, the bathroom I just exited to the left of the bed. A walk in closet is to the right and a vanity is tucked away in a corner. Deep red is painted on the walls with white crown molding trimming it. A lush beige carpet covers the floor and it feels like silk on my feet.
This is definitely a room I could get used to! I chime to Esme.
I agree dear. She giggles. Look at that bed!
Humming my agreement, I go to the bed and sit down. The softness of it was out of this world! I feel like I am sitting on a fluffy cloud with the comfort it oozes. Laying back, I moan in happiness, feeling all my muscles relax. Oh yeah, this definitely beats the bed I had back home. I have got to ask Andrew what kind of bed this is. Just as I begin to nod off, a searing pain shoots down my spine, causing me to scream with the intensity. Before I can even begin to think about what it could have been, more pain shoots down, causing all my muscles to spasm and seize. What the h*ll is wrong with me? Screaming as it flows down all my limbs and across my chest, Andrew bursts through the door, rushing to me with Erin hot on his heels.
"Sele-" Andrew begins, stopping short at the foot of my bed. Staring at me with worry and realization, he looks at Erin.
"She's shifting!" He barks. "We have to get her outside."
"But what about-"
"We don't have time!" He interrupts. "If we don't get her outside now, her shift will be much worse as the moon is blocked by the house." Scooping me up gently, I let out another scream as he whispers to me that everything will be okay soon, that the pain will be gone. I grimace in response, sweat breaking out over my entire body from the pain. Erin did say that the pain was bad, but I didn't expect it to be this bad. Another scream rips through my body as pain shoots down from my head all the way to my toes. A strange feeling begins in my mouth and my hands, feeling like something is growing. Lifting my hand to touch my mouth, I realize I have claws now, black and looking sharp as a razor. Andrew looks down at me, eyes wide with shock from what I can only assume is how quickly the change is progressing. Speaking with them earlier about it, most first time shifts take fifteen minutes minimum, Erins being the longest in pack history. Finally making it outside, Andrew gently sets me down in the grass and I begin to writhe, bones snapping and rearranging themselves, my face morphing and changing. Just as the black dots begin to dance in my vision, everything stops.
There is no more pain but everything is louder. Every bird chirp, leaves rustling and mice skittering across the ground. I can hear Erin and Andrews hearts beating rapidly in their chests, the swish of their blood flowing through it. Overwhelmed, I go to whimper and it comes out as a whine.
What the hell was that? I question.
We shifted Selene. Esme explains. We are now in my form.
Woah. I gasp. This is so cool! Excitement gets the better of me and as I go to stand, I trip over my paws, muzzle crashing in the dirt.
Smooth. Esme giggles. Carefully stand up again and just take it one paw at a time, okay? Also, try to keep your emotions in check. You feel things a lot stronger than a human, so try your best to keep calm.
Okay, I can do this. Gently standing up, one paw at a time, I shake the dirt and grass from my fur. Slowly, I walk in my new form, getting the hang of it rather quickly. Before I know it, I am sprinting around the yard, yipping and howling from the elated feeling that comes over me. This was amazing! The last time I felt this much joy was when mom got me the latest in a series on audio book for my birthday before I left for college. Suddenly catching a scent of pine needles and cedar, I put my nose in the air and inhale deeply, feeling a warmth and peace wash over me, calming me instantly.
Mate. Esme says. Turning toward Andrew, I am taken aback again at just how handsome he is. His usually calm and soft expression is now replaced with one of shock, jaw slack, just staring at me. I trot over to him, his intoxicating smell getting stronger the closer I get and I rub my muzzle against him, lost in his scent. My actions bring him out of his shock and he begins rubbing my giant wolf head, chuckling at my actions.
"You really are exquisite, Selene." he says. I sit back and c**k my head, confused at how I could be exquisite as a wolf. Wasn't there hundreds of thousands of us? Sensing my confusion, Andrew clarifies for me while Erin giggles at me c*****g my head like a puppy.
"You are probably thinking how you could be with there being so many wolves right?" I huff in response. "Well, there are a lot of us, yes, but you are one in a million. A very rare wolf that only shows up once every few thousand years. This type of wolf can only be bitten, not born which adds to its rare nature. We have a name for this wolf, would you like to know it?"
I bark at him to get to the point.
"Selene, you are an opal wolf. Not only very rare, but also strong. Stronger than even me."
Woah.
