Calix’s POV A faint breeze swept through the battleground as Han and I descended from our carriage. My gaze settled on my mate, and Leia disembarking from theirs. Their laughter echoed softly across the grounds, the easy camaraderie between them igniting an all-too-familiar sting of jealousy in my chest. I tried to ignore the way Emily leaned closer to Leia as they exchanged words, their expressions effervescent. The sight tightened the knot of frustration coiling up inside me. “Do you think something is going on between those two?” Han whispered, glancing at me. “Not in the way you’re insinuating,” I snapped, though the uncertainty in my own voice betrayed me. “Then what is it?” Han pressed on. “Because I’ll be honest, it feels like they’re hiding something. Something big.”
