The few words that he said threw me back to the first moment he dragged me to his car to come to this house, not even knowing what was coming. I took a deep breath and shook my head. "I need to understand to do my job correctly, no?" He nodded. I knew that he was nodding not because he agreed but because he didn't want to argue about it. "Anyways," I shook my head and opened the document in my hand and the agenda, "I don't know a lot of people. All the people that I have a circle around I don't know. And some people I don't have full information for. And also–" "Elena," he stopped me. I looked up at him and he leaned forward in his chair, facing me. "You don't need to know everyone and what they do. Only three people are important to know who they are, Dante, Al and Gabzy." "Wait, who is Gabzy?" I widened my eyes and he closed his. "Al is the one providing us security, usually when we do exchanges only but soon enough he will hold the security of everything," he took a deep breath, "Gabzy is the one who takes care of the dealing of the SP. He is the one who picks the people who we will distribute the pills for and is the one that collects the profit," he leaned back in his chair again, rubbing his chin. "And Dante is the one who takes care of everything that is legal basically, all the houses, the buildings and the company." "Oh yeah! You reminded me. Do you have a company?" He sighed. "Yes." I blinked a couple of times, wondering if that was really all the answer I got. "And?" I pressed, waving with my hand to make him give me more information than just a "yes". "It is a small company that I own, exporting and importing car parts." He explained. "Oh, so dad wasn't a part of it?" "Kinda." "What do you mean?" "Elena, are you done with your questions?" I frowned. In the morning he used the excuse to leave because he was busy but I called him sitting with the boys not doing anything important. What else was important for him to leave? Why was he just avoiding me? When I stayed silent, he got up and walked behind the desk, taking out papers and started to write things. He just wanted to act busy for me to leave. I was sure and that frustrated me even more. I spoke. "What happened Huncho?" I took a deep breath in order to get my voice to be heard. I wasn't sad, I was just furious. "In what?" His eyes didn't leave the papers in front of him and his hands didn't stop writing whatever he was writing. I let out a small laugh and shook my head. "Don't play stupid, Huncho," I got up and his eyes automatically met mine, "you were there too, weren't you?" With his eyes never leaving mine, he kept his mouth closed, "you kissed me," my voice trembled and I wasn't sure what in him intimidated me. I was stressed to express how I felt. He started nodding, "yeah?" I blinked a couple of times, hoping my ears didn't quite hear everything he said. This couldn't be his answer. "Why did you kiss me?" "Do I have to have a reason?" He tilted his head, waiting for me to answer that question. "Well, yeah!" I threw my hands in the air, knowing that I was right, knowing that he was driving me crazy making me believe that everything that happened was faked. "No." He shook his head and let go of his pen, "it doesn't. In fact, it never does. It was just a kiss!" "Just a kiss?" My voice was getting louder and I couldn't control it. "Yes." So was his voice, "just–a kiss." He blinked as I watched him, speechless and motionless. "I never said anything. Never promised anything. So what makes you think that this kiss meant more?" I gulped, feeling like I wanted the ground to open and swallow me. I had so much to say but no energy to say it so I just broke the eye contact we had and nodded. "Now, can you let me go back to work?" I refused to look back up at him so I turned and headed to the door. I let my legs rush to my room. I shut the door after me. I sat on my desk and placed my head in my hands. "Are you okay?" I gasped and turned to see who was able to get into my room without me realizing he even did so. I let out a sight, "yeah, Fred. I am fine." "Told you he's complicated." I raised my eyebrows, not knowing how he found out what was going on but I was too exhausted to ask, so I simply nodded. "I just thought–" I shook my head. I knew it didn't matter explaining what I thought about. "You thought it meant something." He finished the sentence for me. I nodded again. I let out a long breath and forced a smile on my lips. "It's okay. It's just a kiss, right?" I tried as much as I could to keep the smile on my lips but my body was fighting me against it. Just repeating the words that were said downstairs hurt more than hearing them. as if my body refused to trust my ears and I had to repeat them to believe that this was the reality. "Your kisses shouldn't be just kisses, you know?" He softly said and I shut my eyes, wishing it was Huncho saying these words. I parted my lips to answer but couldn't find the words I wanted to say. "Can I come in?" "Of course," I tapped the spot next to me on the bed. He walked closer and sat where I tapped. "It's just–" I shook my head, "he told me a while ago he can't be in a relationship which, like, fine. I admitted it but then he gives me attention that can't come from someone who doesn't care. Or from someone who only cares and respects my dad. I feel it, Fred, I feel his love for me. He just–" I groaned, "he doesn't even want to think about it." He simply nodded. He had nothing to say and I didn't blame him for it. I simply wanted to vent.
