CHAPTER 10A VOICE BESIDE HIM said, “Let me pay for your drink.” He turned. The tall gray-haired man in the blue flannel was smiling at him. “It’s the least I can do—unless you will permit me to have your jacket cleaned.” He had a smooth ruddy face, straight black brows and friendly brown eyes. “Forget it,” Ramsey said. “No harm done.” “But I insist.” The gray-haired man lifted his half-filled glass. “I need a re-fill. Won’t you join me?” He held out a hand. “I’m Phil Stark.” The name meant nothing to Ramsey, but he had the impression that it was expected to. He took the proffered hand. “My name’s Ramsey.” The bartender brought his drink.
