Detectives Sparrow and Hawk arrived on the robbery scene less than an hour after the 911 call. Patty Painter, the founder of the highly successful Patios by Patty, had been awakened in her backyard hammock by a neighbor who had stopped by for their usual game of setback.
“Our backyards abut. Patty and I share a love of all things horticultural, red wine, and a good game of cards,” explained Hortense Quimby to the detectives. “I found Patty napping in her favorite hammock about 3:30.”
“Without my favorite diamond bracelet,” added Patty Painter, displaying her bare right wrist.
“Were you in the habit of napping on Sunday afternoon?” posed Detective Cindy Sparrow.
“Every Sunday in the summer,” admitted Patty.
“Who knew your routine?” queried Detective Ha
