  SERENA'S POV   The entire hallway reeked of antiseptic.   The lights outside the operating room were too bright—mercilessly bright. As if they were designed to expose every stain of blood still replaying inside my mind.   I didn't hit her. I'm sure I didn't hit her stomach.   But the image keeps looping.   Wendy's falling.   The blood.   The screaming.   Over and over again.   Adrian stood before the operating room doors like a statue carved from stone. He hadn't sat down once.
