EPISODE 12

1863 Words
I awoke with a drained head, a foggy eye, and a warm feeling in my stomach. It was dark, and I could feel someone laying down beside me, their head on my chest, and their breath brushing lightly on my face. I was feeble and couldn't lift a single limb. I was a little concerned because I didn't have any memory of what had occurred to me at the time. I despise darkness, and I knew my mother would never leave me alone in a room without a light. She wouldn't put her head on my chest, but she would put me on hers, and I always get a wonderful night's sleep when I'm on her chest. My bed was soft, but the one I was on was rigid, sending shivers down my spine. I forced my eye to open a little wider in the hopes of seeing through the darkness, but it was a hopeless endeavor. I tried to forcibly raise my hand to wake whoever was laying on my chest, but it stopped midway before it could reach the person. "Are you awake?" questioned the person whose head was resting on my chest, in a feminine voice that sounded familiar. The individual lifted her head from my chest, releasing the weight from my shoulders. The voice was so familiar that I struggled to get my head around it, trying to figure out where I'd heard it. A light in the room suddenly turned on, displaying a girl standing by a wall, her hand on a switch. As I attempted to remember who she was and what was going on, she smiled at me. "How are you feeling?" she inquired, her face concerned as she approached me. Seeing her face jogged my memory, allowing me to recall where I was, what had happened, who she was, and what I was doing on the bed. "I survived," I tried to exclaim joyfully, but was prevented from doing so by a piercing agony that raced through my gut. "Yeah, we did," the girl remarked cheerfully as she sat alongside me on the bed. All of the memories of how she helped me get through the ordeal went through my mind; she was stunning as she smiled, and I was grateful to her. " Thank you for what you did out there," I told her as I struggled to sit up in bed, my muscles jerking and my strength returning. "We're now equal," she murmured as she pecked me on the forehead before standing up and walking over to her bed, where she lay down. I contemplated the significance of her remarks for a few moments before coming up with a meaningful interpretation. "So she appreciated my previous gesture of trying to save her," I smiled to myself. " Hannah," I whispered to her. "Yes, what is it?" she grudgingly answered. I asked her, trying not to sound accusatory, "how did you seem to know more about poison and ain't freaked out by what's going on here?" "My father is a military man, and he's taught me a lot, so no more questions, good night," she replied as she stood up and walked over to the light switch. "Don't turn it off," I exclaimed quickly as she was ready to flip the switch. "Why?" she inquired, her eyes wide with surprise. "Because I despise darkness," I explained. "You'd best get used to it because I like it," she added as she turned out the light and darkness engulfed the room. ******************************************************************************************************** "Do you have everything in place?" Linda inquired over the phone to the individual she was speaking with. "That's fine; just hold your position; I'll be joining you shortly," she added as she pressed the abort button on her phone. She abruptly stopped in front of a large restaurant. It was on the side of the road, with a section set aside as a car park for their customers on the ride. Behind her pink Ferrari was a black Hilux Jeep. Another Hilux was seen reversing and parking behind the first one, which had parked behind Linda's vehicle. Eight suit-clad men were dispatched from the two Hilux as they soon approached the pink Ferrari in which Linda was being held. She took a smart approach to open the Ferrari's door as the door swirled up and she exited the vehicle. She was dressed in a tight-fitting blue trouser, a white blouse with the bold slogan " F—K BITCHES ", and dark eyeglasses in the shape of a heart. She was wearing a high heel and had a large bag stuck in her hand, which was unusual for her. She enjoys carrying a tiny bag in which she keeps her iPad. She got out of the car and took a look around at the security guards who surrounded her as if they were guarding her against rioters. A young man approached her, looking more attractive than he should have been given the work he was doing. With his amazing height, attractive lips, and dimples that stayed on his cheek even when he wasn't smiling, he looked more like a model than a security guard. He approached Linda in a parade-like fashion. "Ma'am, why did you suddenly stop here?" he inquired, his tone formal. She didn't respond as she went gracefully past him and the other guards. They made a motion to follow her again, and she immediately turned. " I'm going inside to grab something, and I don't want to see any of you with me, so remain here and I'll be back shortly," she said, as the guards struggled to answer. "Ma'am, I promise to keep my wings here, but you must allow me to accompany you, the president has ordered us not to let you out of sight," the young man remarked politely to Linda. "What's your name?" Linda inquired, scrutinizing him as though he was a potential threat. " Adam Wealth ma'am," he replied formally, " I admire your confidence, and I believe I've seen your face someplace before, but I'm not ready to remember right now, so let go," she added as she began walking toward the restaurant's entrance. ********************************************************************************************************* ADAM'S POV: My father, a classmate of Mr. Kelvin, was the head of security for Mr. Kelvin even before he was elected as the country's president, so I've had a love for her since I was a kid, when I first met her on her first visit to Stardom. My father was making enough money to send me to a decent school and had already established a network of contacts that would enable me to find a suitable job after completing my university degree. Rather than enrolling in university after graduation, I chose to attend a military academy in Canada, where I received A SWORD OF HONOUR and THE SWORD OF DISTINCTION FOR LEADERSHIP. I received proper training in martial arts, the use of modern and archaic weaponry, and battlefield ingenuity, among other things. Though I saddened my father when I told him that I didn't want to join him in serving the Kelvin family, I wasn't willing to listen to anything he had to say because I had already made up my mind. It was simple for me to get the job because of my experience and studies emphasis. The PT security team was my first choice because it was in charge of the Kelvin family's safety. The rest of the narrative will have to wait till another day. As she entered the restaurant, I trailed close behind her. The restaurant's transparent glass door opened automatically for her as she stood in front of it, and she entered; it did the same for me. Except for individuals who are about to order what they want on their own, the restaurant's atmosphere has been designed in such a way that people present can scarcely see themselves. I trailed her as she made her way to the workers in charge of selling to the consumers at the stand. I trailed behind her, allowing her some breathing room. She placed her order, but instead of placing it in a takeout, she stated that she would be eating it there. I quickly took it from the waiter and assisted her in carrying it to an empty table inside the restaurant. I was astonished to find that she had ordered twice as much as she had originally purchased. I set the tray on the table, assisted her in cleaning the expensive seat she was meant to sit in, despite the fact that it was already spotless, and stood guard beside her. "Hey you," she said, and I glanced at her, completely clueless about what she was trying to say. "Sit down," she said unexpectedly. "Me," I blunderingly inquired. "No, not you, but you," she added, pointing to the tray, "hope you see that I bought twice of everything I ordered." " Thank you for your thoughtful gesture, ma'am, but I'm now on duty here." "I'm not asking for your opinion, it's an order," she added, frowning at me as I stood there unsure of what to do. "Do you want the meal to become cold?" she inquired after my long silence. As she sneered suspiciously, I reluctantly sat in the chair directly across from her. She had two Pizza and two 50cl pet cokes in her order. I ate at a snail's pace, and she ate at a snail's pace as well. She seemed engrossed in her phone, either chatting or devising a way to get away from the guards. She said, "I'll be back shortly," as she collected her bag and walked to the female restroom. I finished my lunch and rose up, asking one of the employees if there was another exit in the restaurant except the main door, to which he answered, "yes, but it's in the GM's corner." "Can you tell me where the GM's corner is?" I kindly inquired. He gestured in a different direction than Linda did. "Another exit other that one?" I inquired again, "none that I am aware of." He responded, which I appreciated. I stood at the restaurant's door, communicating with my wings outside through a walkie-talkie to stay aware to make sure they didn't lose her. After five minutes of standing guard at the door, I noticed a lady approaching from the restroom area. She was donning a black Muslim garment with a black veil concealing her face. I had already opened the door for her when I noticed that the lady was carrying the same bag that Linda was holding. I immediately gave chase and blew a whistle I had on me that was supposed to notify others. My wings trailed me as we chased after the lady, who was also running. Even with everything on, she was surprisingly quick. But I eventually caught up to her and stopped her. I attempted to pull the veil from her face, but she fought back vehemently in order to prevent me from doing so. The veil was removed after much testing. "Sh*t," I cursed when I discovered Starr, Linda's personal maid, beneath the veil.
