CHAPTER 43 Shattered Walls

  Zara   The visions came back like a slap to the face. One moment, I was sitting on the edge of my bed, trying to remember if I'd eaten. Next, I wasn't even in my body anymore.   Smoke. Crumbling stone. Blood on marble floors. I stood in the center of what used to be the Academy courtyard, now nothing but ruins. Fire licked the broken walls. Statues lay shattered like broken bones. And I was standing over it all. I wasn't crying, not screaming. I was just… watching.   I could feel the Vessel pulsing against my backbone like it was alive. Like it had become a part of me.   "Zara... "   Ronan's voice snapped me out of it. I blinked, back in my room. My whole body was trembling, and I hadn't even realized I was standing.   He stepped closer, watching me carefully.
