Mia smirked, she moved closer to Elena and said in a whisper, her voice mocking. “Three years. He never loved you, I am the one who owns his heart”
Elena gasped in shock again. She meet Nicholas three years ago, in the university and married him a year ago.
“Get out. This isn’t your home anymore”Nicholas’s voice was ice.
“This is my house” Elena affirmed, her voice laced with anger.
“And now it’s mine” he said with a cruel smirk. “You signed it over, Remember?”
Elena swayed, her vision dimmed and her strength gave out. She collapsed on the marble floor.
...
When Elena woke up, she was in a warm bed. She jumped out of bed, trembling when she caught Damien walked into the room.
He rushed to her and tried to calm her down. “You’re alright, Elena” he told her.
Tears welled in her eyes. “What happened?” she asked, her heart throbbing.
“That jerk Nicholas left you at the hospital. He’s getting married to Mia tomorrow evening” he revealed, angry.
Elena grabbed onto her chest, her mouth hang open, still not believing all what was going on. Damien pulled her into his arms.
“I’m here. I should have been there sooner”
She cried hard, holding onto him like he was her last lifeline.
Two weeks later, Elena was still bedridden. Worried that she might in be danger, Damien sent for a doctor.
“You are pregnant, Miss” the doctor revealed.
Elena stared at her, her chest tightened and her fingers shook as she whispered. “What?”
“Are you certain?” Damien asked the doctor who nodded.
He turned to Elena whose heart was in disarray. The fact that she was pregnant with a stranger’s baby terrifies her.
After the doctor left, Damien turned to her with concern. “What do you want to do now?”
“I need to leave. I can’t stay here anymore” her eyes welled up.
An angry frown crept on Damien’s face. “You are just going to let those two get away with all they’ve done?”
He clenched. “They stole from you, Elena. And left you to die”
Elena’s tears flows, looking so weak. “I’ve already lost everything. There is nothing left for me here”
“Please” she pleaded.
Not wanting to see her in such pain, he heaved and gave in. “I’ll help you” he affirmed.
In an hour, Elena stood by the car waiting to take her to the airport. She has made bad decisions these past years of her life, but now, she was going to change that.
...
Axel Moretti stood on the balcony of a towering estate, his jaw clenched. He had just being crowned the new Mafia King after eliminating all his enemies.
“I need to find someone” he said to Alfonso. “That woman from that night. She saved me. Find her and bring her to me” he ordered.
“Do we have a name, boss?”
“That’s your job to find out” he said sternly and Alfonso quickly apologize.
He turned to the men standing a little distance behind. “Let’s go” he said and they all hurried after him.
At the airport, Elena pulled her hoodie low and gripped her ticket tightly. She took one last glance behind her, her eyes glassy.
There was no turning back now.
She stepped through the boarding gate just as a group of black suited men rushed in through the door.
Few of them had her picture in their hands, looking frantic for the woman in it. But it seemed they were already too late.
Alfonso stood in the middle of the hall, a exasperated countenance on his face. He picked up his ringing phone.
“Boss, I think she left” he reported.
...
Axel who has just received the news, grunt angrily and smashed the phone on the floor, scaring the two people, tied, kneeling down in front of him.
He turned to them and grabbed the gun from one of his men. Without blinking, he fired at them, ending their lives.

Six years later...
The city of Vista hadn’t changed much. But Elena Patrick had.
Now, with a sleek ponytail, guarded eyes and a calm poise, she stepped onto the soil she once fled.
Her heart ached at leaving the twins in Bronco, but this trip was necessary. Just a few days to finalize some documents, reclaim her dignity that was ruined and give payback.
Elena waited patiently as her passport was scanned at the airport. But at that moment, a silent alarm went off.
The officer stared up at her, looking a bit mortified. The instant the Elena walked away.
Phone calls were made.
And somewhere in a heavily fortified mansion, Alfonso picked the call. He rushed quickly to Axel.
“Boss?” he called, with voice filled with urgency and excitement.
“We found her” he said.
Axel turned, his lashes flickered up. “Bring her to me, now” he ordered.
Without wasting a second, Alfonso rushed out, signalling the men with him and they all got into the car, to bring their Boss’s wife home.
...
Elena stood outside the airport waiting for the person that has been sent to pick her up. A car pulled in front of her, and just as she waited to see who it was, some men emerged in a rush.
Before Elena could understand what was happening, she was grasped and forced into the vehicle.
It drove off, in high speed.
...
Alfonso rushed in after twenty minutes, his expression conflicted and hard. “Where is she?”
Axel asked in a stern frown.
“She was taken” Alfonso answered in heated breath, his head bowed.
Axel stood up from his seat, his frown deepened. He charged at Alfonso, his jaw tightened.
“Taken?”
Alfonso hesitated, afraid. “By...your cousin, Joseph.”
The instant Axel heard that, his jaw clenched harder. He made a tight fist, infuriated and worried.
He knew how treacherous his cousin was. He had been waiting to get back at him after their last fire-out when he killed his men.
“How did he know about her?” Axel asked but Alfonso shook his head.
It seemed like there is a mole among his men.
Axel turned and pick his guns inside his table drawer and moved out, Alfonso followed closely after.
