Race To Them

Roger's pov:

I need to hear his voice to be sure, that Cody really is there. I felt such a wave of emotions that I felt my eyes water, upon hearing his soft voice. I told him that I'll be there soon and put my phone in my pocket with a smile on my face. I placed the unconscious human in my hand on the ground, I turned to Kyle who was having fun breaking the legs of the human under him.

"Tell the others Cody is safe and I will thank them properly for their aid after I am sure my infinity is of sound mind and body", I ordered the child once I had his full attention.

"I got you, man, go home", He said dismissing me with a wave.

"I should smack you for that way of speaking to me", I said as I started to climb up the wall then started to do some roof hopping in the direction of home.

I ran fast on my way home, my only thought is, we're finally together again. I was halfway home when I caught the scent of pine and within a few seconds, I am tackled to the ground by Max and Auden in their large wolf form. His hot, wet, rough tongue left a trail of his saliva on the side of my face as his horse-sized paw pressed against my chest to keep me pinned down. The tingles running through my body felt nice, I missed it, I haven't seen Auden in person since we started the search for Cody. I laughed in delight, it felt good, I haven't really allowed myself to feel anything since the search started.

"Come on pup, Cody is waiting for us", I reminded him as I ran my hands through his thick fur.

Auden howled out loudly and hopped off of me, swinging his tail impatiently as I stood up. He nipped at my hand then motioned in the direction of home while giving me a little growl. I got the message, he wanted to race me home.

"Alright pup", I chuckled, waiting until he had a good grip of his bag that I didn't notice till just now, then I started to run even faster than before, Auden ran hard as well keeping up with my pace, painting.

I got home first and opened the door for Auden as he shifted back into his human form. I shut the door behind me and listened to the sound of Cody's voice yet again.

"Auden mm you're naked", Cody said with laughter in his voice.

"Cody how many times do I have to tell you, clothes are an option, not a necessity", I heard Auden say with joy in his voice.

I walked to the doorway and watched as Auden held Cody close to him and spun them around. Their mixed laughter filled the air, I looked over to Nia and Gannon looking at Auden and Cody lovingly. I wanted to cry again with the joy that I felt. Nia left the room to go get some pants for Auden, as Gannon walked over to me with a smile.

"You did a very good job, you know that right?", He asked me as he placed his hand on my shoulder, leaning the short distance down to place a kiss on my lips.

I kissed Gannon back, loving the feel of the heat that came with his touch. Like a fire brushing over my ice-cold skin, I broke the kiss with a smile, "So did you".

"Put on the pants". Nia's stern voice was heard causing us to turn our attention to Nia throwing a pair of pants at Auden's head.

Auden ducked causing the pants to fall on the floor harmlessly, He stuck his tongue out at Nia playfully then said, "make me".

Nia ran at Auden, which caused him to hop over the couch to get away from him. Thus the chase began, which caused me to chuckle at the sight. I felt my heartbeat pulsing throughout my body along with the warm hand of Cody on my own. 

I smiled, pulling Cody against me, lowering my head to his hair, so I could inhale his scent. It wasn't long before I felt Cody start to cry against me, I moved my hand on his back in a soothing manner as I tighten my hold on him. 

After a moment Cody slowly pulled out of my hold, he pulled me over to the couch and sat me down. Cody kissed me slowly get passionately, it made me want more. He pulled back before I could pull him closer and give Gannon a show, I'd know he'd enjoy.

"Nia, Auden come here", Cody called out as he stood right up and motioned for Gannon to come to sit on the couch as well. Once everyone was sat on the couch and Auden with pants on now, Cody started to pace the length of the couch nervously.

After a few quiet moments, he started to speak, " My mind was messed with while I was....gone. They did a few tests on me, to figure out my power. When they did, they knew the only way to get a good understanding of my power is to monitor me while I use it. So they tried to get me to use my power, but I never did no matter what they did to me. They got tired of not getting any results so I was put in a machine that would essentially put me in a coma for however long they wanted, while they showed me a reality of their choosing", Cody clenched his fists and stopped walking for a moment then he turned to face us, he smiled then continued to pace.

"In this reality, I met you all and you met each other, and we fell in love with each other. But we had problems, so many life threading problems. But we always came out of it together, happier and stronger, with a deeper love for each other", He voice started to sound strained so he stopped again and blinked a few times, he lifted his hand, rubbing his closed eyes. Cody only did that when he's fighting tears.

"It was my birthday, and we were all at the lake. I watched helplessly as you all died in front of me", Cody looked at us then, he continued, "In this reality my only power was shapeshifting, then I am told that I can go back and save you all. I don't believe it, but I try anyway only to be ripped out of the machine by June, She's the one that told me everything that happened in that reality was fake. I thought you all were fake and that hurt worse than the thought of you all being dead. I was so afraid when June and Astra and Kam dropped me off here, because what if you all moved on or didn't even know me or if you really weren't real and June was just messing with me", Cody shook out his hair looking over at us with a sheepish smile.

"Auden and I were looking for you, ever since we knew you were gone", I said trying not to feel hurt that he thought for one second that we would just give up on him without even trying.

"I would've looked for you as well, but nooo it's too dangerous Nia, we can't risk losing you too Nia, we love you Nia", She stuck out her tongue at us and crossed her arms under her chest.

Gannon ran his fingers through her hair as he spoke, "Yes, and because of that attitude I needed to watch over you, so you wouldn't do something without thinking about what might happen".

Cody smiled a bit sadly as he said, "I know I put you all through a lot and I'm sorry for that".

Auden scoffed loudly then said, "It's not like you intentionally got kidnapped. We love you Cody, so being sorry over our reaction to that is like being sorry that we love you".

Cody stared at Auden then blushed, rubbing the back of his neck, "Sorry umm, my question is should I go back and make it so I don't get kidnapped in the first place?".

"What are the pros and cons?",Nia asked as she sat up more.

"Pro, Cody doesn't get kidnapped and we don't go a little crazy looking for him", Auden said the obvious.

"Con, Cody could get taken a different way on a different day if those kidnapped are determined", I pointed out and crossed my arms, "which they are from the way they fought us off, Auden".

"Pro, Cody could tell us what happened before his mind forgets and we take them down", Gannon said as he sat up just like Nia.

"Pro, we save the extraordinaries that were held captive before me", Cody said with a determined look on his face.

"Ok, the pro's outweigh the con's, do we all agree that Cody should go back and change time?", I asked everyone.

"Con, we change something in our future by not going through this experience. Con, something worse happens to us", Nia said as she looked at each of us, " If certain bad things didn't happen to us, we wouldn't be who we are or where we are now".

We sat quiet, thinking about the pros and cons of this one decision. After about an hour of silence and thinking, Auden stood up and said, "I'm hungry, anyone else hungry?".

"Yeah actually", Cody said in agreement, his eyes a bit brighter as he gave Auden a thankful look.

"A pizza sounds nice and unhealthy", Nia said with a smile as she stood up with Auden and Cody.

"I think we have everything to make some homemade pizzas", Gannon said as he stood up as well then looked down at me, "You in, A chumman?".

I sucked in a breath, the air mixed with the scents of my infinities. I closed my eyes, holding that in my lungs for a bit longer, the taste of their scents on my tongue. I wanted a decision to be made now, but I suppose a food break won't hurt. Especially since we are finally all together again, so I nodded my head and stood up, heading into the kitchen with my mates.

Auden grabbed his phone from his bag and started to play music for us, then he helped us take all the ingredients out we needed. We played with the bough that Gannon mixed, we as in Auden and myself. 

It just felt so squishy and cold and it felt odd, all the while Nia and Cody coated a section of the counter with flour and told us how to rub the dough out. Gannon made the sauce and Nia seasoned it, then Cody spread the sauce on the dough. Auden and I get out all the toppings and we all decorated the pizza.

As the pizza cooked in the oven, Nia taught us how to make Chinese doughnuts with the leftover dough. It was fun and relaxing and peaceful, It felt good to feel whole again. We ate and talked to each other, fixing the corruptions on Cody's memories. How Hera did take control of Nia but it was only to force me to see the difference in them, in a failed attempt to get me back.

Hera did come to the party I threw for my infinities, but she didn't die, she left when she finally understood that I will always love her in a way but I will never be in love with her again. How Auden didn't go behind our backs to be with Joy, we all spent time with her when she came back. She was the one that reminded Auden that he was technically still a part of his birth pack.

Joy helped us meet with Bob and talk about that but when he started to act like a d**k, Auden simply challenged him for his spot as Alpha and let Joy fight for him so that she would become Alpha.

 In Bob's defeat, he met Hera his mate and they are happy together in her land. While Noir met Joy when she was sworn in as the new Alpha and Auden became the beta. Morgana did try to have her way with Gannon, then begged him for help with her feeling for his father, Gannon suggested she talk to her father about these feelings and they are all trying to get along now.

"Ok, what did we all decide?", I asked my infinities since I didn't like leaving the question in the air anymore.
