Senburo: A Thousand Swords continues the story of Uehara Kuro after she escapes from Dorei-Ana in the Ikura Islands. Directionless and filled with anger, confusion, and sorrow—Uehara Kuro, who now holds the Senburo, a sword known throughout the ages to never leave its master's side while having the ability to possess other swords, journeys farther south as she continues to seek out a place of solace.
In these events, a reflection of one's upbringing is brought into life as Uehara Kuro reminisces of what she had now become, remembering bygone days in wistful memory.
As Kuro's tribulations draw further in, her own memory of regret begets the very sole purpose of her existence. Haunted by her father's words and afraid of what her life seems to spiral to, an opportunity begins to show itself to Kuro to put her aptitude for good use. Her ability to wield the Senburo was a portion of an arduous trial that an ancient order of swordsmen was once tasked to uphold for centuries.
A thousand year burden that now becomes a ritual passed on for several generations to come.
As all roads lead Uehara Kuro to the run-down temple of the Kiori, she returns to the very place where the Senburo was forged.
Desperate to ease her personal anguish, will Uehara Kuro eventually come to accept this impossible task to compensate for her tremendous and self-imposed guilt? Find out in the 22nd chapter of The Shadow of Issu, Senburo: A Thousand Swords.
