The park was peaceful. The sun dipping glow in the sky as Logan arrived. He spotted Ansley, Payton, and Emma and Julie already gathered by the edge of the basketball court a casual game going on in the distance.
Logan walked over and Ansley immediately waved him over. “Glad you came” she said her smile warmed. Payton gave him a tight lip smile that there was something in his eyes that made Logan wary it was as if he could sense the difference in him that something was off.
They spent the evening talking, laughing and even playing a little bit of pick up basketball though Logan speed and agility made him dominant in ways that made others uneasy by the end of the night.
But Logan wasn’t the only one with great speed and agility. Although he had the most something about Payton was different. He was fast but not as fast, he was strong but not as strong as Logan. Logan decided he needed to play close to attention to Payton because no human is that strong and fast, and it was obvious he wanted Ansley.
Logan could tell that Payton wasn’t just infatuated with Ansley, he was obsessed as the group began to disburse, Ansley turned to him. “You wanna walk home I don’t mind the company.” Logan’s heart skipped to beat. “Yeah I’d like that.”
As the day passed, Logan found himself growing closer to the group, particularly Ansley. She was everything he ever wanted in a partner, strong, independent, kind, and so attractive. It was now time for them to walk home. “So where do you live?” Ansley asked. Logan didn’t think this through, he didn’t want her unexpectedly showing up and seeing that he lives alone. “Over in Meadow Brooke” he said. “Me too!” Ansley stated. Logan was hoping this was the farthest away from her, but with his luck it wasn’t. Logan and Ansley approach the door when Ansley invites Logan in. “Wanna come in?” She said. With a little bit of hesitation Logan said, “Sure, I guess”.
They get inside and walk through the living room. that’s when Logan realizes nobody else is home, luckily for him no awkward parental meetings.
This night made Logan feel different. There was something in Ansley’s eyes that made him feel alive, a way he hadn’t felt in ages.
Ansley, unaware of Logan’s true nature, led him through the cozy hallways of her home with a calmness that made him feel oddly at ease. There was no fear, just curiosity. As they reached the room, she turned to face him, her breath soft but steady.
“Are you sure you want to come in?” She asked, her voice tinged with uncertainty yet filled with warmth.
Logan nodded slowly, his dark eyes never leaving hers. “I don’t think I’ve ever been more sure of anything.”
Inside her room, the atmosphere shifted. The air was thick with anticipation. Logan, despite his ancient years, felt a longing he hadn’t know he was capable of. Ansley reached out, her fingers grazing his check. The contact sent a jolt through him, a sensation he hadn’t felt in decades.
Their faces were inches apart, the silence between them heavy with unspoken words. Ansley said, “There is something different about you, I don’t know what, but it attracts me.” Logan leaned in his cool breath mingling with Ansley’s warmth, and for a moment, time seemed to slow. Then, without hesitation, their lips met, tender, slow, a connection deeper than either could understand. Ansley’s hands gently rested on his chest, feeling the steady rhythm of his heart, a stark contrast to the stillness of his immortal nature. Logan’s kiss was gentle at first, a promise, before deepening, as if they were both searching for something only the other could provide.
