Mackenzie Rock stars really know how to party. It may be stereotypical, but it was also the truth. Jaxon and Riley didn't have many guests, only their immediate families, the band, Sydney, James, Colin, who I've learned was their former manager and now their CEO, and his wife, Laura. There were a few other famous people too. Basically, the wedding was intimate and very Jaxon. And by that, I meant overflowing booze and food. It was my first time meeting Riley and I already fell in love with how cool she was. They all were and somehow I was glad that I had come. When we arrived at around half past six, Maverick and I were immediately ushered in different directions. I was pulled by James to get ready with the bride and Maverick was pulled by Maddox. By eleven, everyone was quite buzzed, but I was glad to know that they were happy drunks rather than unruly drunks. Jaxon and Riley had a beautiful outdoor wedding and, instead of having individual tables, they arranged it in such a way that every table was connected, so people could have a conversation with anyone. It was chaotic and fun at the same time. There was a small stage set up at one corner of the garden, so every once in a while people would go up there to jam. After a while, people started asking Lucid Mantra to play. They refused at first but then gave in when Riley pleaded. "Well, since my wife asked," Jaxon laughed before standing up and everyone followed suit. "I'll be back in a bit," Maverick good-naturedly sighed before kissing me on the cheek, and then all of them were off to the stage. "You're gonna love this," Sydney excitedly stated which told me how much he adored Maddox and the rest of the band. It was pretty heartwarming to see all of them support each other like that and I couldn't help but think that what they had for each other was real love and respect. "To the bride and the groom!" Maddox roared, causing everyone to howl and cheer. Jaxon then counted them off and then they started playing. I really thought they were going to play one of their songs or that it would at least be a love song, but then they played Show Me How To Live by Audioslave. "What in the world?" I giggled at how inappropriate the song was for a wedding. "Oh, they don't do sappy love songs often, honey. They just rock out on every occasion," James laughed, which made me laugh harder because it was just so stupidly awesome. It was far from a full-on concert, but my God, they sounded unbelievable compared to when they were just a garage band who got invited to parties and school performances. No wonder women and men alike worshiped them. They sounded and moved like legends and I couldn't help but feel that I missed out on them. No one talked to each other as they played four random songs and none of them were their own songs, everyone was completely focused on them and some even got up on their feet, swaying in time with the beat and the music. It was just so awesome. Once they got off stage, I gave Maverick a "that was impressive" clap and when he got to me, he leaned down and kissed me on the lips. It was the lightest of all kisses, but it made my heart flutter. "How was it?" Maverick asked as he pulled me to sit down next to him. "It was beyond," I grinned because it really was. "Although, I was kinda wondering about your song choices." Then it was Maverick's turn to laugh. "That's how we like it," he shrugged still grinning from ear to ear. "So I've been told, but why do covers when you guys have plenty of your own songs to choose from?" Maverick gave me a playful side glance as if he was contemplating whether or not he should explain something. "Because playing our own songs when we're not on tour or promoting feels kinda narcissistic," he stated matter-of-factly, and even though it sounded absurd, it also made sense. By one in the morning, all the guests had already gone home. The only people here were us, Maddox and Sydney, the newlyweds, then Sky and James. I felt fine earlier, but now I was nervous again. There were only four rooms in total, including the masters. All three were already occupied, which only meant one thing. Maverick and I were going to have to share a room. I kinda expected that since he somewhat hinted that if I accepted to be his plus one, then it meant we were getting back together. When Maverick opened the door to the guest room, my heart went berserk. It pounded so hard that I could hear my blood flowing in my ears. "Is everything alright?" Maverick suddenly asked when he noticed that I was still standing at the threshold. "Um yeah, I was just admiring how beautiful the room is," I nervously explained, but I knew that he didn't buy a single word I said because of how he looked at me. "If you feel uncomfortable sleeping in the same bed with me, I could take the couch," he offered, pointing at the said couch that looked like it could only fit half of his body. s**t, now I feel bad. "No, it's fine," I hurriedly said. "No really, don't worry about it," he answered as he sat on the couch. We stared at each other for a bit before I walked inside the room. "I uh, can you tell me where the bathroom is?" Maverick then stood and slid the barndoor to the side, revealing the cutest bathroom in the world. "Oh," I giggled as I pulled out my pajamas and the pouch that carried my toiletries before walking into the bathroom. When I got out, Maverick was already lying awkwardly on the couch, flipping through channels on the TV. His position looked so uncomfortable and so forced that I failed to hold my laugh in. "Why are you laughing?" Maverick asked and it made me laugh even harder when he looked like he didn't really have a clue as to why I was laughing. "There's no way in hell you'll be able to sleep like that," I snorted. "You want to bet on it?" he chuckled, making me laugh once again. "No, I don't want to bet on it. Just sleep next to me, it should be fine," I offered because really, I don't think I could live with the idea of him sleeping like that. "Are you sure?" he asked. "Yeah," I simply said before walking to the other side of the bed.
