Mackenzie “Ugh!” I groaned as I chucked the eleventh dress I just took off together with the rest. After almost a month of avoiding Maverick, I was finally, or rather, sort of ready to come face-to-face with him. It wasn’t that I didn’t want to, but I couldn’t because of how embarrassed I was after realizing how stupid I was to walk away from him like that. I didn’t know what to think back then, so my natural reaction was to be in flight mode. I was a coward, okay? Everything was my fault, but I was just too stubborn to admit that.
