Sofia decided to focus on Mark, as doing so would cause her excitement and distance from Max. She couldn’t bring herself to look at him without tears forming in her eyes at what she realized she had lost. Even the life that used to be in his eyes, even twenty seven hours prior had extinguished to a dull existence. There had been a small fraction of her that couldn’t help but feel guilt in regards to Max, he was trying to be upstanding after all, but that didn’t change the pain it caused Sofia upon seeing him fawn over Lulu.
