You were like him

1575 Words
Trembling body, sweaty palms, dilated eyes that looked everywhere but her. That was Harvey's situation when Chloe picked him up from the church and brought him home. He keep looking around as if he's seeing someone that cannot be seen by normal humans. "Babe, what really happened?" Chloe asked, near to snap out but still trying to hold off her thin patience. She's been asking Harvey since he left in her office, though she might have any idea what it was but she doesn't want the guy to know that she could see Yohan and Jess. "They're h-here." Harvey said as if he was gone insane. "And they are here for me." He added. "Who?" "S-satan!" Harvey yelled insanely. "Wow, I am not my father." Yohan spoke behind Chloe. Chloe looked over her shoulder and widened her eyes to tell Yohan to shut up. Then she looked back at Harvey. "Babe, you're just hallucinating." "N-no! I saw hell and I witnessed how people suffered in that place." "But still, do not credit my father to anything I've done." "Will you shut up?!" Chloe growled as she looked back again and Yohan put her two hands in the air on both of her sides as if she was surrendering then she retreated back. "W-what?" Harvey looked up to Chloe with disappointment in confusion in his eyes. "I mean, stop blabbering words that are not true. No one will ever visit hell but they are still alive." Chloe said. "I can do that and he really visited hell." Yohan said again. Chloe pursed her lips and drew a sharp breath but didn't look back anymore and bent over to look her fiancé in his eyes. "Listen to me babe, you were just having a nightmare earlier so please, calm down." "That's not a nightmare, that's real!" Harvey yelled as he stood up. His chest rising and falling in rage because he's thinking that Chloe didn't want to believe him, that she's thinking that he might going crazy and that what makes him feel more stupid. He ran to church to ask for the priest's protection since the devils are coming for him but in the end, the priest left him inside the church to talk to someone else outside, so he assumed that maybe, just maybe, Chloe was right, that it was just a nightmare and he's taking it seriously. But no, he knows what he saw, the way Yohan grabbed him was real and he saw them right behind Chloe, smirking at him devilishly. "Babe—." "They are following me because of you!" Harvey blurted out as he swatted Chloe's hand when the latter tried to reach for his hand. "Those demons are your former bodyguards and driver!" "What do you mean?" Chloe asked nervously, not because Harvey was talking about Yohan, she's nervous because he might call the wedding off and she doesn't want it. Once the wedding was canceled, Yohan will think that she won again for ruining her life for the second time and she's not going to let that happen. "The last time I visited you.." Harvey trailed off as he shook his head, as if remembering that incident a year and half ago was too traumatizing for him to reminisce. "They told me not to bother you again or they will kill me and now they're back!" "Babe, I swear! You're just scaring yourself!" Chloe hissed in irritation. "I'm not! They were really here and they are doing what they told me!" Harvey yelled as he stepped backwards. "I'm sorry, but I can't do this anymore." He added and ran out of Chloe's house. "Harvey!" Chloe yelled and was about to run after him but Yohan stopped her from doing so by grabbing her arm. "What do you want from me?!" She yelled as she turned around abruptly. "Nothing, I'm just saving you." "From what?!" "From him." Yohan said calmly. "Please stop! I don't want you to save me, I don't want you popping out from nowhere, I don't want what you're doing and I don't want you!" Chloe shouted from the top of her lungs, every word had rage in it, every word that slipped in her mouth was like a knife stabbing Yohan's heart, which is too familiar for Yohan to feel because she has felt that pain when she lose Nicole. She tried to speak, but words wouldn't come out, it's as if there's a sudden imaginary lump in her throat that prevents her from speaking. "Just please, I'm begging you. Leave me alone." Chloe said weakly, her eyes glistening with tears. "Even if I want to—." "Even if you don't want to." Chloe cut her off. "Leave." She added with full of hatred in her voice even if she said it calmly. Yohan was left speechless, the pang in her chest appeared again and she couldn't bare it. She can't, because she promised herself that she will never feel it again, but Chloe happened. And she's now hurting Yohan in every possible way. But on the other hand, Yohan couldn't blame Chloe for it. Their feelings towards each other was never meant to happen, but it did and now, both of them are hurting each other. So Yohan decided to just do what the girl wants. She nodded her head with a painful smile on her lips. "Okay then, I just hope that whatever decision you make, it will make you happy and safe." She said before retreating back and slowly fades. When Yohan was gone, Chloe dropped down on her knees and cried hysterically. She cries her heart's out, hoping the pain to vanish along with the tears escaping from her eyes. "Mom." Molly called softly, wrapping her arms around Chloe's body and pulled her in. "It's okay." She cooed as she started rubbing Chloe's back. "I was never happy that she came back." Chloe said between her tears. "But you do and you're just being in denial because you never want to admit it to yourself." Molly said, she speaks like a super matured lady who can understand what's happening. "She abandoned me." "You do know her situation, right?" Molly asked as she lifted up her mom's chin and their eyes met. "I know that I still lack knowledge about aunt Yohan's identity but I happened to read in a book that a devil and a human cannot be together, unless.." Molly trailed off her words and she twitched her lips. "Unless what?" "Unless one of you will surrender their life." "What do you mean?" Chloe asked. Molly sighed and she pulled her mom to stand on her feet and guided her to the sofa and they both sat down. "Like if Aunt Yohan will choose you, she needs to leave hell permanently but of course, there are consequences, but on your part, if you choose her, you have to go with her in hell." Then Chloe remembered that one time when Yohan and her escaped from the real world and spend time together. Yohan asked her that question but she refused and thought that it was just a joke. "That's impossible." "It can be, at least for someone like Aunt Yohan." Molly said. "No." Chloe shook her head and wiped her tears. "Then I guess we are better off this way." She added. _______ Yohan went back to Charlene's house, having a long face and a scowl. She went straight to the garden and sat down on the Bermuda grass. "Okay, so tell us what happened." Jess demanded as she sat down next to Yohan, then Agma on her other side. "She don't want me anymore." Yohan said, showing no emotion. "Just give her time, you can't blame her." Jess commented. "I know, but this." Yohan pointed at her left chest where her heart was. "It hurts." "Do you want me to kill the guy?" Agma asked. "No, she'll get mad at me." "She already did, so what's the difference?" Agma chuckled. Jess leaned back to reach for Agma's head and she smacked her. "What?!" "You're not helping!" Jess hissed at her. "It's raining, we should go back inside." Yohan said when she felt a drop of water fall on the back of her palm. "You're crying." Jess gasped, almost a whisper. "What? No." Yohan chuckled and she touched her face, but Jess was right. Yohan is crying and she's not aware of it. "Damn it." She hissed. "Okay, so this is really alarming." Agma said as she fisted her pants and spread out her legs. "Dude, what's really stopping you from going all out to Chloe?" She then asked. "I'm a devil, she's a human. We can't be together." "What if.." Agma paused and she gulped. She's battling with herself if she should tell her or not, but in the end, she draws a sharp breath and ask the question. "What if you're not really what you think you are?" "What does it mean?" Yohan asked. Agma turned her head to look at Yohan, then she smiled. "You are not a real Devil, Yohan." "Stop beating the bush, Agma." Jess said impatiently. "I just literally exposed her, what do you want?" Agma scoffed. "Wait, I'm confused. What are you trying to say?" Yohan asked again with a furrowed forehead. "You remember Lucifer?" Agma asked and Yohan nodded her head. "You were like him and you are a fallen angel." ____
