Since Brooke kicked me out, everything has fallen apart. It's taken everything in me not to go after her. The only reason I haven't is because I know she needs time to heal. I don't think I'd be any help if I hounded her day and night.
On the other hand, my family hasn't been happy with my separation from Brooke, especially after finding out about our lost baby.
"Ian, you need to reconsider," my mother snaps as she storms into my office.
Apparently, ignoring her calls isn't a sign that I don't want to talk to anyone right now. I set aside my fountain pen and lean back in the chair behind my desk.
"Mom. Brooke is deeply hurt by things that happened between us. Trust me, I have no intention of letting her go, but I don't want to wear her out either."
