That scream ripped straight through me.
“LIORA!”
I was already running before the echo even finished bouncing through the hallway. Leone shouted something behind me but I couldn’t hear him properly over the sound of my own heartbeat pounding inside my ears.
Every classroom door along the hallway was either locked or hanging slightly open and every single one looked upside down. Empty desks. Flickering lights, papers scattered across floors like somebody left in a hurry. The emergency lights cast this sick yellow glow over everything and it made the blood on the floor look darker.
Too dark and another scream echoed somewhere deeper ahead.
Closer this time.
