Nyxa~ Pier Nine was still stuck in my head like it had burned itself into my brain and refused to move. I couldn’t focus on anything Leone or my mother were saying anymore. Their voices were there, but they weren’t making any f*****g sense. It was like my mind had stepped one foot outside the room already and the rest of me was just lagging behind. Leone noticed first. Of course he did. “Nyxa,” he said carefully, watching me. “Talk to me.” “I can’t do this right now,” I muttered, dragging a hand through my hair because everything suddenly felt too tight in my chest. My mother stepped closer. “Sweetheart, we’re almost there. Just breathe for a second.” I let out a short laugh that didn’t have anything funny in it. “No, I’m done breathing for a second. I need you both to leave me alone
