The rain had stopped by the time Damien Blackwood's convoy reached the gates of the old Blackwood Manor.
For years, the mansion had stood empty.
Its tall iron gates were covered with vines, and the once-beautiful gardens had become overgrown with wild flowers and weeds.
Ariana stepped out of the SUV and looked up at the enormous house.
"It feels like the place has been waiting for someone."
Damien nodded.
"My father never sold it."
"He always said this house still had one final purpose."
Lucas checked the security scanner in his hand.
"There are heat signatures inside."
Victoria looked surprised.
"I thought nobody lived here."
"So did I," Damien replied.
