MIA'S POV
By the time I left the hospital, it was already late in the night. I walked out of the hospital building, my bag clutched at my armpit.
I was very tired with the events of the day. Having to accompany Ryan Hayes as his fake girlfriend to the event, the way Logan and Nyra behaved, it was all weighing on me now.
I still couldn't believe Logan had stooped so low as to tell my mother those things. He was really stupid as Ryan liked to call him.
I remembered the way he looked at me as if whatever we had with him was real and not acting and smiled.
My mind rushed to the way Nyra humiliated Logan thinking she was protecting him and a small butter smile tugged at mu lips.
And Logan? Well he was some s**t.
How could he start a fight in a place like that?
I always respected him, loved him, cared for him. And yes, I knew he had a temper. But never in my wildest dream would I ever think that he could be that stupid to embarrass himself at the first day he joined the national Hockey team's event.
I was about to hail a taxi, when someone grabbed my wrist and I quickly turned to that direction worry flooding my chest.
Who would be that? I didn’t know anyone here apart from my sick mother and doctor Mike. And I had already seen doctor Mike earlier before I left the building.
But when I shifted my body to the sides and my eyes landed on the person, my heart sunk at the bottom of my stomach.
“What are you doing here?” I quickly removed my hand from his grip and crossed my hands on my chest, my glare sharp like a razor dagger.
“Mia,” Logan called, then sighed as if all of this was hard for him.
“What do you want, Logan?” I blurted out, taking a step back.
Logan smiled, then took a step closer, and I felt like vomiting by his perfume.
Well, I used to like that scent, but now it made me want to puke.
“You look happy,” he said, his voice calm at first. A smile formed on his lips, but I could see the vulnerability in his brown eyes.
I did not answer. I simply stared at him, my arms still crossed tightly over my chest.
“Ryan must be treating you well,” he continued, his tone still measured.
I felt my jaw tighten. I kept my eyes on his face, refusing to look away.
“Did not think you would move on that quickly,” he added, his smile fading slightly.
I took another step back, my hands clenching into fists at my sides.
“Maybe I never really knew you,” he said, his voice dropping lower.
I felt my chest rise and fall faster. My breathing grew heavier. I could feel the anger building inside me like a storm.
“Maybe you were always this easy,” he finished, his eyes narrowing.
And that was it. I raised my hand and slapped him hard on his left cheek.
“Don't you dare insult me again!” I screamed in anger, my blood boiling as I clenched my fists.
Logan touched his cheek, his eyes wide with shock for a second. Then his expression hardened.
“What are you even doing here in front of the hospital?” Something popped inside my head and my mouth dropped open.
“Do not tell me you were stalking me.” I blurted out as realisation formed in my head, my eyes widening.
Logan acted shocked, one of his hands clutching where I had slapped him.
“Don't you think the world revolves around you?” He then broke into an annoying laugh, making me bite hard on my lower lip.
“You know what?” He crossed the distance between us, and now our eyes were too close.
“I know what is going on,” he said, his voice low. “Everyone can tell that relationship is fake.”
At this, I swallowed hard. Something inside me flipped. My heart jumped into my ribs.
No, he would not be knowing about the fake dating thing.
“I know he does not want you, and he would not want you.” Logan stopped. His eyes now sparkled with rage, his mouth twisted.
“He just uses you to get back at me.” His jaw tightened so hard I thought he might c***k a tooth.
“You are stupid.” I blurted out then pushed him away.
“You think highly of yourself, Logan, huh?” A smile formed on my face but it was not anything pleasant.
“Who do you think you are, Logan? Do you think you are some star now that you slept your way up to the national hockey team?”
“Stop there.” Logan growled, anger evident on his face. His eyes stared at me in rage I had never seen before.
“I catered for you, helped your brother and paid for your dying mother’s…” before he could finish I slapped him again on his other right side. My heart throbing hard, my stomach churning with the way he was referring to my mother.
“f**k you with your help, Logan!” I shouted. The tears I had been hiding for long threatened to break free but I would never cry in front of this jerk.
“You do not have any right to act entitled after everything I did for you.” The words came out trembling, my eyes wide in anger.
“I have, because I own you, Mia. Your family owes me a lot of money.” Logan blurted out and I really broke into a hard laugh.
“Really? My family owes you?”
“Of course. All the months I spent my money on you, while you, you do nothing to help them. And now, you dare fake it with my enemy to make me jealous?” He laughed in a pause.
“No, you will never make me jealous Mia.”
I could not believe that Logan was this foolish. He still thought I was doing all of this to make him jealous?
“You know what the funny thing is, Logan?” I said, my voice steady now. I looked him straight in the eye.
“I spent two years thinking I was not enough.”
I laughed softly.
“Today I realized…”
I took a deep breath.
“I simply loved the wrong man.”
Logan’s face twisted. His fists clenched tighter. He looked like he wanted to say something but the words would not come out.
I turned back and stopped a taxi.
But before I got in, I turned back, my heart throbbing hard in my chest.
“And stop stalking me. You have a girlfriend.” With that, I got inside the car.
“How dare you walk on me, Mia? I am still talking.” Logan screamed like the fool he was that the guards at the hospital could not stop looking at him like a crazy man.
“Okay, go." He laughed bitterly,
"But I know you will come back and beg me to take you in!”
The driver started the car and we drove away leaving Logan burning with anger.
God! I could not believe I wasted my two years with someone as foolish and as senseless as Logan. I felt like laughing at myself now.
As the city lights disappeared behind us, I rested my head against the window.
For two years, I had loved Logan Brooks.
Tonight, for the first time...
I felt absolutely nothing.
