CHAPTER TWO: ANOTHER SCHOOL DAY

It was a cold 2am morning with the wind blowing against my window like it was knocking for me to open, I woke up earlier than usual but I knew already that it was a bad idea, I had school by 8am the same day and I tried my possible best to fall asleep to no avail.

Knock, Knock!!

I heard a soft Knock at my room door and this made me alert because I was scared, who could be knocking at this ungodly hour? I asked like I was expecting someone to answer?

I quickly stood up from my bed and tip toe all the way to where my shoes are stack at a rack, picked up my high heel boots in defence position and tip toe close to the door..

Who is that?

I asked softly, expecting to hear a familiar voice.

It is me ...

The voice came whispering

It who?

It is me

It’s me Railey, your sister.

At that moment I felt rage, although I wasn’t asleep she could have easily called to let me know she was coming instead of making me burn 10kg worth of calories out of fear I thought almost swearing..

Opening the door, I dragged her in quickly shut the door behind and gave her a sound Knock on the head..

Ouch!!!!

She protested

That’s for giving me a big scare, now what may I do for you?

I walked away from her and took a big dive into my bed to relieve myself of the fear I had just now.

Well!!!

Before I start talking how was your day?

She said sitting close to me like a baby who was about to ask for the impossible..

Railey and I have this kind of a sister’s relationship where we can tell each other what is going on in our life and still act like we the worst enemies the world knows, mum already said it's impossible to ever pick side when it comes to us and we know where she is coming from and for her to be here at this hour it most be dead serious.

"Speak up Railey, we both have school in the morning and we would be exhausted if we stay awake any longer".

I said yawning and all of a sudden really sleepy..

Ok so there is this boy at school and he is really cute and very caring, well I kinda have a thing for him and I told him but he said

we....we...

Railey said stuttering

We..we should do what?

I said wondering why she was dragging out the story..

Well he said we should have sex..

it is very surprising to hear this and I was kind of jealous, at least my sister get to be asked out by a boy where I haven't even been asked out by a rabbit but back to the situation at hand...

Wait! what? s*x? when he is not mad?

I said acting like a mum whose child is about to commit crime..

"Look here Railey, I don't see any reason why you should want to be hanging out with such a guy, he is no good and I believe you will make the right decision"

"So what's your advice"

"I just gave you one what you saying?"

"Lol, I am just joking with you, thank sis, I will do what's right"

we both continued talking and playing till we fell back asleep if I had known I wouldn't have slept but then it was already too late.

Linger, linger, Ling... wake up it's morning, wake you it's a new day,time to try again.

the sound came from my alarm clock and it have been ringing for a while now,

"Railey, would you turn off the alarm clock?"

"Railey?...Railey....."

I yelled Railey's name Because I expected her to be somewhere on this bed, but she didn't answer, I rolled a little to the side she was at just this morning, that's when i found out she wasn't on the bed, I opened my eyes and there was no Railey in sight,.

"Oh she most have gone down stairs after getting ready for school"

I reached out to turn off the alarm clock and then proceed to sitting on my bed while scratching my body and my hair like a deranged dog. I gently rubbed my eyes and look round, I reached out to my phone to check the time like the clock wasn't just sitting on the table visible and to my surprise it was 8:30am...

"What??????? this can't be the right time, I was up until just now"

I stumbled off the bed and crawled to the alarm clock to get a proper look at it one more time.

"hell no, I am fvcking late for school again"..

Running straight for the bathroom and have the quickest shower I have ever had, run out and randomly picked some clothes from the wardrobe, slipped it on and slide in a pair of black half cut sneakers, carried my bag and was running down stair while screaming my mom's name and Railey's too.

No one answered and I discovered they all left with out me, I found a paper on the kitchen top which reads.

'we tried waking you up but you refused to, here is some money get a bus or a cab depending on when you get this and go to school, don't forget to eat breakfast. love mum'

"breakfast what? I don't even have that time'

I ran outside while forgetting to lock the door and ran back to, I was running along the walk way trying to get a cab.

"Taxi, Convenant university"

and with that we were off and I prayed to God that there shouldn't be traffic, but the taxi driver was moving at the pace of a snail.

"sir, please can you go any faster? I am already late for class"

"I am I can't go any fast and you can see some cars are ahead don't worry I will try my best"

I kept telling him countless of time to move fast and it pissed him off that he screamed back at me with a language I could not understand.

"Wait ohh, na me send you message? you wa know say you wor go school you nor know say u suppose wake up on time?which one be fast fast, you want make them deport me? abeg I dey do the best I can no rush me"

(hold up,was I the one who asked you to be late?if you know you wanted to be at school on time, you would have got up on time, why are you asking me to go faster? please I am trying my best don't rush me)

he said, I couldn't understand what was saying but I knew he he was tried of my constant nagging, not like the road was free..

"So sir, if I may ask what language was that?"

I asked

"It's Pidgin"

he replied

"Pidgin? what country is that?"

I asked because I was curious while trying to lessen the tension, I already built.

"Pidgin, it's a language In Nigeria"

"Oh Nigeria, my mum is partly from there, although neither her nor me have ever been there"

"Oh My God, you na my sister?( so we from the same country)"

"Oh no I am not your sister I just said I am partly from there"

"I didnt mean sister sister, I meant, so we from the same place"

"Oh, nice"

"Ok I think I know one place we can pass to avoid this traffic head on"

"Oh no need you can take your time, it's already passed 9 and I am beyond redemption"

"don't worry you can still meet other classes"

"Ok, thank you for your consideration"

the taxi driver immediately turn away from the main traffic and passed through other road that I would never have thought was a short cut and in no time we where at my school.

"Thank you very much sir, here is your money"

I said as I step out from the taxi and waved a good bye to him, i was finally at school and it was at that time I realized, all this while I was wearing my clothes inside out..

"Can this day get better?"

I sighed in disappointment, I think I need to talk to my parents about moving to the dorm, it won't work at all from home.
