Chapter 2: The Wedding

1209 Words
When we got to Stacy's place, we were glad when we saw the untouched tables. It was a good thing that we arrived to the wedding extremely early, but a nuisance that we have to wait before the others get here. The wedding took place in Stacy's huge garden in her backyard. Twenty gardeners clipped, tweezed, and watered it into perfection. To my left were perfectly watered white pansies, white forget-me-nots, and white roses. But to my right were red and pink tulips. The wedding had elegant white tables that lined neatly against the white cobblestone roads, probably where Stacy will make her great entrance. On the end of the cobblestone road is a grand stage where they will do the wedding ceremony. For now, twenty violinists were sitting in their chairs, cleaning and touching their precious instruments. To the right was an enormous table filled with freshly cooked meals and a huge wedding cake covered in layers of white frosting. The chef stood behind the table, praying that his efforts for preparing this meal was worth it. While Mom was trying to adjust her dress, Luke and I took our seats in the front. "Holy Moly," Luke breathed. "So, this is a wedding." I nodded. "It's very huge than I pictured it," he said. "Me too," I agreed. "Cole," Mom said, applying lipstick. "What do you think? Is it too much?" She wore a light blue dress that extended to her legs. Her blond hair was tied into a curly ponytail. "You look great Mom," I complimented. Mom gave me a warm smile and sat down next to me. Just then, two teenaged boys with nice suits walked towards us. One of them had red hair, brown eyes, and tiny freckles while the other had wavy brown hair, brown eyes, and olive skin. When they saw Luke, their eyes widened. "Luke!" they cried. Luke's face immediately turns red. "Hey man, what's up?" the red haired kid said. "I'm doing good Seth," he answered. The brown haired kid looked at me and smiled. "Luke," he whispered. "Who's the chick?" I raised my eyebrow in curiosity. How does Luke know these kids? When I glanced at Luke, his face turns even redder. "Do you know these kids?" I asked. "Where are my manners?" Luke chuckled. "Cole, this is Seth and Josh." The boys eyes widened. "Dude," Seth exclaimed. "When you said you had a girl as your friend, I thought you were lying!" Luke blushed. "How do you know Luke?" I asked. "He's our babysitter," Josh said. "Oh," I said. "That's pretty cool." "Hey Luke," Seth said grinning at me. "Can we borrow you for a minute?" Luke gave me an apologetic look, but I smiled back and gave him an approving look. After he joined the boys, I couldn't help but overhear what they were saying about me. I crept behind Luke and watched in the bushes. When the boys stopped, Seth beamed at Luke. "Why didn't you tell me your friend was a girl?" Seth asked. I raised my eyebrow at Seth. "I did," Luke reminded. "Like I said," Seth moaned. "We thought you were lying to us." "Can we ask her to be our girlfriend?" Josh asked. Luke shook his head. "No," he groaned. "She's seventeen." "But I am from Tennessee," Seth said with a smile. "And she's the only ten I see." I resisted the urge to groan. Don't they know that it was stupid pick up line? "Cole is unavailable for fifteen years olds," Luke declared. "Dude," Seth whined. "She's like Beyonc or something!" I blushed at little. "No," Luke said sternly. "And that is final." "You like her too," Josh snorted. "Shut up," Luke grumbled. "I bet you haven't told her yet," Seth taunted. "I don't like her that way," Luke groaned. "No," Josh said. "I mean you haven't told her about...." Their voices were so low that I couldn't hear them. Silently, I turned back to my table and sat in my seat. When the boys came back from the garden, they went back to their seats and waited for the wedding to start. Luke glanced at the time while tapping his foot anxiously. I grimaced at the white rays of the sun. But that was when I heard a familiar voice. "Hello Nicole and Willow, how are you doing?" The voice belonged to my grandmother. "Oh no," Mom groaned. I couldn't help but agree with her. She had wrinkled olive skin, black hair, and a lustrous white dress. Her eyes were dark brown, her smile was lopsided, and her face was covered in a lot of makeup. My Grandmother was a sweet old lady, but she likes to be a complete drama queen. Whenever something went wrong, like my mother's divorce, she would cry for hours. It took me and Mom two days to calm her down. "Hey Grandma," I exclaimed. She smiled as she wrapped her arms around me and squeezed me until I couldn't breathe. "Hi Mom," Mom greeted. "How's Dad-" Instantly, Grandma dropped me on the ground and hugged Mom. After Grandma was finished hugging Mom, she called Grandpa to come over here. A small bird like man with the same features as my mom waddled over to us. "I am going to stretch somewhere," Luke said. He rose up from his seat and walked away from us. "Hi Dad," Mom said sheepishly. Grandpa furrowed his eyebrows at her. "Don't 'Hi Dad' me,Willow." he said. "You never called or visited me, especially my granddaughter." Mom sighed. "I'm sorry Dad," she said. "I-" "It's not your fault," Grandpa insisted. "It wasn't your fault, it was your blasted decision of marrying Lewis." "Oh, here we go again!" Mom groaned. They went to another bitter argument about Dad. "I knew it," Grandpa continued. "I just knew he was rotten since the-" " 'Moment I saw him'," Mom mimicked. Mom glanced at me and blushed. "Can we talk somewhere else?" she whispered in an urgent tone. Grandpa was about to protest until Grandma gave him a scary look. Grandpa gave me an apologetic smile and joined them. When they disappeared, Luke walked back to his seat. "This wedding could not get much worser," I grumbled. Just then a blond girl with a pink dress spotted me. It was Madison. "And it can," I sighed. "Hey Dr.Jekyll," Madison greeted Luke. "Hey Ms. Hyde." I scowled at her insult. "What are you doing here?" Luke asked. "Stacy invited me," Madison shrugged. I laughed at this. "No seriously," I said bitterly. "What in the world are you doing here?" "Stacy invited me to be the Flower Girl," Madison snapped. "Wow," Luke said, trying to be impressed. "That is so...terrible." "I know you don't mean that," Madison said sweetly. "Oh, he meant it." I snorted. "Shut up, Cole." Madison said. "You're so pathetic that no boy would ever kiss you." "Aww," I said. "And you're so scary that even Freddy Kruger couldn't sleep at night." Madison gasped at this while Luke laughed. She gave me a dark look and stormed away. "Where can I get some food?" I moaned. "I am pretty sure the food can wait," Luke said. "I think Madison made me lost my appetite."
