"She's here to seduce Mr. Morgan, always vying to be his girlfriend. Mr. Morgan can't stand gold diggers," Olivia hastily explained before urging Lilian, "You have to stop her right now!"
As Olivia was the head secretary, effectively making her Lilian's superior, Lilian promptly rose to confront the newcomer, Jennifer Nettles. As she laid eyes on Jennifer, Lilian couldn't help but admire her inwardly.
Jennifer was so hot, so much so that even Lilian found her undeniably attractive.
Snapping back to reality, Lilian quickly stepped forward to intercept Jennifer, who was heading her way.
"Ms. Nettles, hold on a moment. Do you have an appointment?" she asked.
Jennifer glanced at Lilian, her tone anything but friendly. "Appointment? I never needed one to see Raymond. Are you his new secretary? Is Pluton Group scraping the bottom of the barrel for hires? Or has Raymond changed his tastes? Hiring someone so average-looking as his secretary really sets a new low for Raymond's standards."
Lilian was slighted twice in a row.
Yet, she wasn't triggered. Instead, Jennifer's words made her realize that if Jennifer never needed to make appointments, why would Olivia insist on her intercepting Jennifer? Olivia must be intentionally making things difficult for her and trying to set her up!
But she couldn't go against her superior's orders. While intercepting Jennifer might really be necessary, simply chasing Jennifer away wasn't an option. Lilian needed to strategize.
So, she improvised, explaining, "I'm not trying to stop you, but Mr. Morgan is currently out on urgent business. Furthermore, his fiancée is present today, waiting inside. Ms. Nettles, it may not be the best time for you to enter."
After Lilian's explanation, she noticed Jennifer regarding her with keen interest.
"So, Raymond isn't in the office?" Jennifer inquired.
Lilian was slightly taken aback, wondering if Jennifer hadn't grasped the implication.
Nodding firmly, Lilian reiterated, "That's correct, Ms. Nettles. Mr. Morgan is indeed absent. The person inside is his fiancée. If you were to enter now, it might upset Mr. Morgan when he returns. And trust me, his temper isn't something you'd want to provoke."
Jennifer burst into laughter, leaving Lilian somewhat perplexed.
Suddenly, a chilling voice interrupted from behind her. "Who did you say has a bad temper?"
Caught in her lie, Lilian felt a rush of embarrassment.
Judging from the tone, it was evident that the man was seething with anger. Lilian shuddered in fear, wondering if Raymond had emerged from the office.
She didn't dare to turn around.
Perplexed, Lilian couldn't fathom why Raymond would visit the secretary's office at such an unusual hour.
Standing behind Raymond was Olivia, who had intentionally enticed him out with the pretext of showcasing some newly arrived samples.
Indeed, she did it on purpose.
Her motive was simple: she wanted to witness Raymond firing Lilian.
Olivia was filled with resentment, for Owen rejected her friend and ended up hiring someone as ugly as Lilian.
Lilian's body tensed as she frantically sought a way to rectify the situation.
With a charming smile, Jennifer glided past Lilian, heading toward the man standing behind Lilian.
"Raymond," she purred, "Why didn't you come to see me these past few days? I've missed you so much that I've even fallen ill."
Raymond's voice, once frosty, now carried a hint of warmth. "I've been busy lately."
"Raymond, you're horrible," Jennifer continued in a flirtatious tone. "You're always so preoccupied. I've been missing you so much, I've practically wasted away."
"Let me check if you've truly lost weight. If you're too thin, it might not feel as comfortable to hold you," Raymond remarked, his words carrying a suggestive undertone. Yet, his tone remained nonchalant, devoid of any overt flirtation.
Sensing that the two were flirting, Lilian concluded that they likely wouldn't pay her any mind. Quietly, she decided to make her escape.
But before she managed to slip away unnoticed, the voice of the man behind her rang out once more. "You, hold it right there!"
Lilian stood frozen with fear, a shiver coursing down her spine. She dared not move even a muscle. Deep within, she was worried about whether she could keep her job.
"Raymond, your new secretary is full of crap. She got in my way, refusing to let me see you. You must teach her a lesson!" Jennifer complained bluntly.
"Head back for now. I have a lot on my plate today," Raymond replied, his voice tinged with impatience as he withdrew his arm.
Sensing his irritation, Jennifer quickly added, "Fine. Come see me later when you have time. I'll be waiting for you..."
As she spoke, she leaned in for a kiss, but Raymond deftly evaded it, leaving Jennifer to awkwardly retreat.
Lilian was filled with regret, contemplating how to defend herself.
"Who gave you the audacity to turn your back on your boss?" Raymond's voice carried a hint of impatience.
Lilian took a deep breath, adjusted her glasses, and forced a false, ingratiating smile. Turning around, she began, "Boss, there seems to be a misunderstanding. I..."
But as she laid eyes on the man's face, her words caught in her throat, her expression morphing into sheer astonishment.
"You?!"
The man before her was none other than the one who had caught her as she stumbled near the company entrance earlier that morning. He was also the same man she had encountered in the elevator not an hour ago, the man who had molested her!
Raymond was momentarily taken aback, his expression quickly turning to one of revulsion.
"You followed me all the way to my office? Who gave you the audacity to impersonate my secretary?" he demanded.
Lilian wasted no time in handing over her resume and job offer. "I'm not impersonating anyone."
The man glanced over the documents before questioning, "And who gave you the authority to chase my woman away?"
So, she wasn't a gold digger. But why was she seducing him and trying to drive other women away? Was it possible she had fallen for him at first sight?
That was crazy!
Raymond thought, he had to get to the bottom of this!
