Ava's POV I froze as Nathaniel Blackwell’s eyes bored into me. He stood tall in the doorway, his jaw clenched and his expression a mix of irritation and suspicion. “Who are you, and what the hell are you doing here?” His voice was sharp, cutting through the small feeling of confidence I had left. I took a step back, my pulse racing. “I—uh…I can explain,” I stammered, but the words felt jumbled. What do I want to explain? “You shouldn’t be here,” he said, his tone dangerously low as he reached for his phone. “This is a restricted area. You must be a thief.” Panic surged through me. “Please, wait! I’m not a thief! I was just—” “Save it.” He cut me off, not even glancing up as he tapped the screen on his phone. “Security, I need a response team up here right away. We have an intruder.”
