Every so often, Sierra caught Drake glancing back at her and Kyle. She relaxed, wrapping her arms around Kyle's waist as they rode on horseback to New Iberia.
"Thank you," Kyle said suddenly.

"I owe you a hell of a lot of gratitude for demanding that I keep Shadowcaster. I would have missed him badly."
"I know, and truthfully I didn't think that I could stand watching you brood around for months over losing this beast," she teased.
"How thoughtful of you." Kyle chuckled before speaking again. "You know, Sierra, I'm glad we're doing this together."

"I wonder what it will be like once we're there," he said.
