Chapter 4

Renee's POV

(TW)

I was sitting in the room with Xavier's mom, she was talking to me about how scared Xavier was bringing me to their home. "Xavier is a nice boy, you two should get on well" she tried reassuring me about my situation. She gave me a kind smile and gave my hand a small but comfortable squeeze.

I smiled back not knowing if I should ask what's been on my mind the entire time. "May I ask a question, if you don't mind?" I look over to her and then back to the ground, I've always been so focused on the ground. Pamela looks at me and nods her head telling me to go ahead and talk.

"Well, Xavier keeps calling me his "mate" and he says I'm "his world" so I'm confused because we've only just met each other" I look up and she looks like to have realized something. "Hun when is your birthday?" I wonder why she asked such a sudden question "On June 17th, why?" She smiles and again asks a weird question, but not without ignoring my "why? "your age?" She looks uneasy as she asks me this like she should've known already.

"I'm 16, but why do you need all these answers is there something wrong?" Pamela stands and walks out the door without another word. Alright then.

Pamela's POV

*Why didn't anyone bother telling me she was human? I mean she smelled different but I just thought she was stressed or uncomfortable.*

I walk down corridors until I reach my husband's office and my son is also in there. I push open the door and I could've broken the hinges. "I have a dandy question for you all, why didn't any of you tell me Renee was HUMAN?!"

As I was trying to keep my temper my husband and son both looked at me like I was death at its wake "well?" Xavier started to talk "well mom I was more concerned about her s**t father" my husband nods in agreement "well I'm your mother I thought I should've known and I didn't even know about her father yet." My husband decides to speed up the conversation "well hun her father has been abusing her ever since she turned eleven so about five years he's been beating her."

I put my hand over my mouth taking all of the things that she has gone through, I started to cry but I quickly wiped my tears. "Well Xavier I think you should go to your mate and take her to get food, she'll be starved" he stood, and before he could leave his father stopped him "son please explain to that girl what a mate is." He nodded to his father.

Xavier's POV

I walked down the halls to Renee's room and knocked, I stood there for about five minutes before I started to worry. I knocked again with a little more force "WHAT?!" she sounded aggravated "It's Xavier I came to see how you're doing and maybe get food?" I heard some ruffling and the door flung open "hi!" I chuckled at her happy and excited state "hey, so what ya want to eat?"

She thought for a moment then her face lit up "how about we go to a steakhouse?" I was shocked at her decision but nonetheless, we walked to my car and sped off. The ride was about an hour or so, when we arrived we got a table that wasn't surrounded by people so Renee could be comfortable. "Was the drive here ok?" I asked in anticipation, She peered up at me "oh yes it was fine very peaceful"

I nodded the waiter came and asked us what we would like to drink "I'll have a sprite please" the waiter smiled and looked to Renee "umm I think I'll have an iced tea with a lemon and please make sure the tea is fresh" the waiter scribbled something onto her notepad "alright then your drinks will be out shortly" we got our drinks not too long after.

Renee had ordered a steak well done with broccoli and baked potatoes and a side of onion rings, while I ordered two steaks well done with mash potatoes and creamed corn with a shrimp cocktail. I know I eat a lot I mean what did you expect I'm a wolf.

After we ate we got into the car and I started to drive the opposite way of the packhouse. Renee looked confused "Xavier the house is the other way" I kept my eyes on the road " I know, I'm taking u somewhere you'll love, I promise." I gave her a small smile "ok" after about thirty minutes we stopped and I got out and opened her door and told her I was gonna blindfold her "why do you have to do that?"

"It's just so the surprise is even more of a surprise!" She turned around and let me put it on "ok now take my hand and I'll help you to the spot" she reluctantly took my hand and we started to walk, we walked a couple of feet from the car and stopped I untied the blindfold and she opened her eyes and her eyes went wide with amazement.

Renee's POV

I opened my eyes to be met with a beautiful view of the city we lived in the lights twinkled like stars in the night sky the full moon shone brighter than the city below. I turned around to see Xavier's eyes glued to me, and to my amazement he was gleaming.

He looked at me a slight blush tinted to his face " well I set up a small picnic with wine, and I know we aren't of age but please have some with me?" I smiled and I actually felt happy the happiest I've been in a while. We sat on this blanket and had a glass of wine. "So Renee are you still curious about what a mate is?" I looked up and nodded my head furiously.

He took a second and then started to speak " Well I have to tell you a bigger secret that's about me and everyone back home it is what we all are." I nodded my head for him to go on " I'm a werewolf" he looked at me for signs of a reaction I just sat there speechless then what he said finally came to me and I busted out in laughter.

I stopped laughing to find he was...serious? "You're serious? You and your whole family are wolves?" He nodded "Well not just my family there are over a million of us in the whole world, but in just my pack we have about 10-20 thousand" I stood up trying to process all this information I just got.

"Wait so does this mean I am also one?!" I asked with total curiosity "Well if you don't remember shifting at 13 then no your not a werewolf, I shifted when I was 13 and I'm now 18 and I've found my mate, I've found you." "Ok hold on a damn minute, so what's a mate? Also, why am I your mate if I'm human?!"

He looked toward the city below then back at me " I honestly have no idea it's super rare to have a human mate, so I was as confused as you are now" Xavier walked up to me and I wanted to back away but I was so bewildered and nervous that I couldn't move, he had touched my arm and somehow calmed me down " I'll explain mates to you now if you want?" I backed up a little and looked up into his eyes and nodded my head not able to speak at the moment.

We sat and he began to talk "mates are like our other halves, when we do find our mates we are overpowered by their smell it's very intoxicating, like to me you smell of roses and lavender, very delicious." He gave a sly smirk and I giggled at him "anyway, when we do find our mates there's a process where we mate." I gave him a puzzled look. "You know we have to have se-" I covered his mouth before he could continue "I get it" he nodded knowingly "ok well when we mate I have to mark you and that mark states that you are mine and only mine vise versa when we do mate we will be inseparable only we will be able to calm each other only we pleasure each other, do you understand?" I took a moment to think, all the new information sinking into my mind. I looked up "Yes I understand the whole mating process, but don't you think we should be headed back soon?"

Xavier's POV

I looked at my phone and sure enough, it was almost 3 am, we packed the car back up and drove to the house, when we arrived I opened Renee's door she climbed out got her stuff as did I, we walked up to the house and I unlocked the door we stepped in and not a soul could be heard.

"Well have a good night's rest and don't stay up too long it's bad for you, okay?" She smiled at me and nodded "you too wolf boy" she said heading to her room I smiled and got a small snack before bed and I had just realized her room is only two doors down from mine, coincidence maybe?" I shook my head definitely a coincidence.

I went into my room took a warm shower, warm NOT hot, like women like to burn their damn skin off I prefer heavenly showers. I got out dried off put on some sweat pants and Lied down and was soon asleep.

Renee's POV

(Assault, possible r**e. Read to your own terms)

I got into my room with the hugest smile on my face tonight was a good night I would say, Xavier was wonderful he's like a puppy when he gets all shy. I got undressed and took a shower, dried myself off put on a tank-top and shorts braided my hair then laid down in my bed. *I wonder if Xavier enjoyed tonight as much as I did myself* with that thought I fell asleep.

"Ugly"

"w***e"

"Stupid"

"b***h"

"You'll never amount to anything in your pathetic life, just give up" they all laughed at me and called me names I didn't know the reason to. I thought my life couldn't have gotten any worse. The last beating my father had given me was the worst. I jolted awake sweating from the horrible memories, I laid back down but noticed this wasn't the bed I had fallen asleep in, all of a sudden my father burst through the door.

"There you are little w***e" I looked in my father's direction in horror as he walked toward me an evil look in his eyes "NO FATHER PLEASE LEAVE ME ALONE, IM SORRY IT WASN'T MY FAULT!" I screamed at him but to no avail, he continued toward me and pinned me to my bed, he got on top of me and started to unbuckle his pants I cried and screamed for help but no one came to help me "please father I'm sorry it's not my fault, PLEASE DON'T DO THIS!!" I begged again.

Xavier's POV

I shrill scream woke me from my sleep I jumped out of my bed and ran to Renee's room and could hear her crying for help, I swung the door open and ran to her waking her up from her nightmares "RENEE WAKE UP" she woke and grabbed onto me crying her eyes out I just held her to my chest while she let it all out, I told her that she's fine and nothing can hurt her here.

After a while she calmed down just small sobs every now and again "Renee are you okay, you can talk to me about it." She shook her head "Take your time I'm always here" after a while I got up to leave not knowing if she wanted me to stay, I got only two steps away when she grabbed my hand " Please don't leave me he'll come back" I turned around and laid her down then I lay next to her on top of the duvet to not make her feel uncomfortable. I held her to my chest and we both fell asleep in each other's presence.
